Holidays in the Lake District

Grasmere is an enchanting place to visit in the Lake District, especially if you choose to stay in one of our Grasmere dog-friendly cottages. Our wide range of self-catering and pet-friendly accommodation has something for everyone, whether you are searching for the perfect setting for a traditional family Christmas or a quiet corner of the world for candlelit suppers for two. The tranquil lake is ideal for kayaking and open swimming, surrounded by the glorious fells that inspired William Wordsworth to declare this ‘the loveliest spot that man hath ever found’. His grave can be found within the grounds of Saint Oswald’s Church in the centre of the village, and you can also visit his former residence, Dove Cottage.

Our dog-friendly cottages in Grasmere are handily located, so you could soon be browsing the pretty village shops and sampling exquisite gingerbread, made to the secret recipe of Victorian cook Sarah Nelson. The village has a rolling calendar of events such as the popular Grasmere Guzzler, and the famous Rushbearing festival. Foodies will adore the burgeoning array of locally sourced ingredients on offer, so you’ll be spoilt for choice of what to cook. If you fancy heading out to eat, there’s an array of traditional tearooms, cafes and restaurants. The Jumble Room will tantalise your taste buds with anything from exotic cuisine to good old-fashioned fish and chips, and At Forest Side serves an explosion of flavour in the form of a mouth-watering tasting menu.
