With its golden beaches, coastal walks and dog-friendly pub, Thurlestone has everything you need for a memorable holiday by the sea. Explore this peaceful South Devon village with your canine pal by your side from one of our Thurlestone holiday cottages. Thurlestone has two main beaches, both of which welcome dogs year-round. The smallest one is next to Thurlestone Golf Club, while the larger South Milton Sands sits slightly further along the coast. Both beaches are sheltered and have shallow waters that your dog can splash around in. You’ll also find several secluded coves dotted along this stretch of coastline that are great for rock pooling.
Lead your four-legged friend on cliff-top walks along the South West Coast Path. One of the most popular is the circular route from Thurlestone to Bantham that takes in spectacular views of Burgh Island, famous for its links to Agatha Christie. You can walk to the island at low tide or take your canine companion across on the sea tractor. Dramatic scenery is also in plentiful supply on the remote peninsula at Start Point, around 14 miles from Thurlestone. The walk up to Start Point Lighthouse is one of the most picturesque in Devon. Browse our collection of dog-friendly holiday cottages in Thurlestone and beyond to decide where your next adventure will take you. Much of our pet-friendly self-catering accommodation has sea views, enclosed gardens and wood burners for cosy nights in.
