Located a short walk from the historic town centre this character cottage, dating back to 1750, still retains a lot of its original charm yet benefits from complete modernisation throughout.

The traditional market town of Wareham is a short stroll from your door with its picturesque quay, from where you can hire a rowing boat, bikes or take a trip around Poole Harbour. The town benefits from plenty of restaurants and pubs as well as a reliable bus route and a weekly street market and monthly farmers market. The train station is a 10 minute walk or a short taxi ride away from the property. A wealth of attractions are within easy reach including the National Trust's Corfe Castle, sandy beaches at Swanage, Studland or Poole, thousands of acres of nature reserves at Hartland, Arne or Stoborough, great for birdwatchers and nature lovers. The county town of Dorchester is easily accessible as is the larger town of Bournemouth with seven miles of sandy beaches.

This delightful cottage offers TWO bedrooms: 1 king-size double and 1 further double reached via steep cottage style stairs. Bathroom: bath with handheld shower head attachment only (due to ceiling height) and WC. Lounge: benefits from a woodburner (first basket of logs included), flatscreen TV, DVD, Freeview and iPod dock. Kitchen/diner: well-equipped with oven, hob and slim line dishwasher. Utility: with microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. Outside: enclosed garden with garden seating and BBQ. Amenities: off-road parking for 1 small car only, reached via a narrow entrance to the rear of the cottage. Bed linen, towels (please bring your own beach towels), electric, central heating and wi-fi included. Childs buggy and booster seat available. Regret no smoking within the property. 2 well-behaved dogs welcome more by arrangement. Additional info: narrow access to allocated parking for the property, however there is additional adjacent street parking available. Location: beach 4 miles, shops, pubs and restaurants all within walking distance. Arrival: 3.30pm

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

It was perfect. The owners have clearly thought of everything. Lovely and warm. (we went in November) The log burner was easy to use. Well equipped kitchen although we ate out most nights in Wareham. Would highly recommend.

The cottage is extremely well equipped, well maintained and very comfortable. But it is rather small - two people and two small dogs filled all the space. We wouldn't have wanted to share the cottage with two other adults - children would have been fine, I imagine.

We went to Barney's cottage for the half term week, to get away from the hustle and bustle of London but also to a place where both the children could relax and revise for upcoming exams.
