A spacious single storey cottage in an idyllic riverside setting. Well placed for touring the surrounding area with a network of walks on the doorstep, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing holiday.

Adjacent to the owners’ home yet offering a good degree of seclusion, this spacious, detached cottage is set in a tranquil position on the banks of the River Wriggle and is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful countryside of both Dorset and Somerset. Conveniently positioned on the edge of the pretty village of Chetnole, you will find a popular pub nearby and a useful convenience store a short drive away. Heading north from here is the charming market town of Sherborne, which has an historic abbey as well as quaint streets lined with boutique shops and artisan eateries. This picturesque area has an abundance of pretty towns and villages to explore and is ideal for walking and cycling.

A shared drive leads you to the private entrance which has a step up to the front door. Once inside the detached cottage you are met by a spacious hallway that leads firstly to the twin bedroom, which is a peaceful spot overlooking the garden. You will also find a separate WC. Heading on from here is the bright and airy lounge, which has a warming woodburner (first basket of logs included, further logs available to purchase from the owner), a double sofa bed, TV/DVD and a Juliet balcony which looks out over the private garden and gives glimpses of the river beyond. Moving along the hallway you will find the contemporary bathroom, with shower over bath and WC as well as a further king-size bedroom. The spacious kitchen/diner is well-equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave and fridge/freezer and is the ideal place to relax with the family as it also has a TV. There is also a utility area which has a dishwasher, washing machine and door leading to the terrace and garden.

Once outside you will find a sunny terrace overlooking the owners’ garden and offering lovely views of the river. You can enjoy this tranquil spot whilst using the garden furniture and BBQ supplied, located directly outside of the kitchen/diner, it’s the perfect spot for enjoying drinks or a meal outdoors. Steps lead down to a second fully enclosed garden area, with lawn and pretty flower beds. Heading back to the front of the property is an off-road parking space for one car.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful village with warm and lovely hosts. Perfect location for exploring Dorset especially if you come with your dog. Having breakfast on the terrace as the sun rises overlooking the stream with your dog playing in the fenced garden is a wonderful start to the day.

Lovely location, James and Louise made us most welcome, the extra car parking space was a bonus. The cottage was well equipped with an excellent selection of books, DVD's and tourist information. The cottage is in a good location in a village setting with a good pub within walking distance and (to us) a bonus with good walks in all directions and a local train station. Its a very scenic line and we went to Bath on the train but you could also go to Weymouth and Dorchester as well as Yeovil and Frome. So you can leave the car behind. Its a gRead moreood cottage for dogs and the owners (on site) were very welcoming and helpful . It is a great choice and base from which to explore Dorset area. Hide

This cottage proved to be even better than the photos and was in the most scenic countryside. Very spacious and well equiped and spotlessly clean. Dog walking was fab from the front door and excellent local pub serving superb lunches and dinners just a 15 minute walk away. Great location for visiting the Jurassic coast and Lyme Regis and West Bay dRead moreefinitely worth a visit. Supermarkets nearby in Yeovil and excellent shops and coffee houses in Sherbourne. Lovely cosy cottage in beautiful surroundings. Had a very restful break in this well appointed cottage listening to the sound of the babbling brook. Well located with lots of places to visit. Good enclosed garden for the dog. Hope to return there.

Spacious and comfortable. James was very welcoming and helpful. Extremely dog friendly, especially with access to the gardens and stream. Excellent position for touring and walking in Dorset. Felt very much at home there.

A very comfortable, well equipped, quiet, peaceful cottage in beautiful surroundings, just right for our much needed rest. The field was spot on for our ageing lab,not too far and enough space to exercise. The local pub served fab lunches. Host James was charming and helpful.
