Perfect for exploring beautiful Dorset, this wonderful house nestles on the edge of the conservation village of Melbury Osmond.

Deep in the heart of Hardy Country, this charming detached property is an ideal spot for guests who are looking to explore the local area which is abundant with pretty villages and towns, the Jurassic Coast, plenty of beaches and sheltered coves which are all within a short drive. With easy access to the A37, there are also a wealth of other attractions to suit all tastes. Locally there are walks including through Melbury Park to the neighbouring village of Evershot with pub and shop. There are many Thomas Hardy locations (his mother was born and married in the village), Sherborne with its abbey and two castles, Montacute House, Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm museum, Haynes Motor Museum, the Cerne Giant and on the coast Abbotsbury, West Bay and Bridport, Weymouth and Lyme Regis. For more energetic activities, sailing is available on the nearby reservoir and golf enthusiasts can try out one of the nearby golf clubs in Yeovil or Sherborne. Visitors can use the tennis and boules court in the village.

On entering this fantastic house, a welcoming entrance hall leads into the bright and inviting triple-aspect lounge. With an open fire, TV/DVD and French doors opening onto the garden, this is a beautiful room to relax in. From the lounge, double doors lead into the elegant dining room, which offers a charming view over the garden and is perfect for sitting down for a special meal. Heading into the kitchen/diner, the kitchen area is equipped with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, TV and a kitchen table ideal for breakfast or supper. The kitchen leads to the useful utility room which has a washing machine, sink, a stable door leading to the garden and a door leading to the garage where you will find the freezer. Exploring further on the ground floor, you will find a delightful snug, which is furnished with a desk, seating, a TV/DVD and a selection of books. The garage houses a games room with a table tennis table and there is a separate WC on the ground floor too. Moving upstairs you will find four spacious bedrooms. There are two double rooms, one with an en-suite shower room. Also there is a twin room and a single room which has an additional pull-out guest bed. Completing the first floor is a bathroom with a bath and shower attachment, separate shower cubicle and a WC.

Stepping outside, you will find a large, fully enclosed garden, mainly laid to lawn, with a covered decked patio area, garden furniture and BBQ which is ideal for enjoying an evening drink or dining al fresco. Ample off-road parking is available in the driveway.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Lovely house in a beautiful location. The rooms are very comfortable with ample space for the five adults and two toddlers in our party. The utility room was very useful with the washing machine and room for drying clothes in bad weather. We were very lucky and had warm sunny days all week. The garden was perfect for the children to run around and Read moresafely enclosed. The charcoal bbq was put to good use on two of the evenings and the decking and paved area gave lots of room for al fresco dining. Hide

It was a real home from home, with the garden being fully enclosed for dog security. One point to note is there are no close shops, so you would always have to drive to get supplies.

A spacious and comfortable cottage with many extras , such as the 'snug' with a TV and wifi, and table tennis in the garage. We enjoyed both as well as use of the barbecue.

This is our 4th year at the old orchard cottage and its as lovely as ever . The location is great in between yeovil and dorchester

The cottage is a large four bedroom house with a study, utility and garage. There was plenty of space for out family group of 7. It is well positioned for access to the south coast and other places of interest with supermarkets in Yeovil just a few miles. There is pub about 200 yards which involves crossing the main road but that wasn't much of a pRead moreroblem but not as easy in the dark. The other way in the centre of the village, half a mile, is a playing field with childrens play area. Hide

Party comprised 6 adults and 1 dog. All of us were impressed by the size and space of the property. Plenty of good sized rooms for all and enough loos to go round. Lovely little village, but property near the A37 so road noise. Being from rural Norfolk we noticed it, but the others in our party being from London thought it was quiet. Lovely lounge view from double French doors lead to an excellent view of the garden and when it was hot, it was lovely to sit out in the garden. Quiet location. It was lovely property, bedrooms were quiet, well appointed.
