The ideal spot for a relaxing break on the Dorset and Somerset borders, this pet friendly thatched cottage has an enclosed garden and is in a lovely village setting with pub and shop within walking distance.

Set in the pretty village of Thornford, this character cottage has been refurbished for summer 2017 and offers comfortable accommodation with spacious rooms and an abundance of charm. The village has a pub and shop and is surrounded by open countryside, making it the ideal spot for walkers and nature lovers. An abundance of pretty towns and villages are accessible from here, including the market town of Sherborne, which offers a great selection of artisan cafes, boutique shops and restaurants. Heading south from the cottage is the stunning Jurassic Coastline, which provides the ideal backdrop for all manner of outdoor pursuits, or take a trip into Somerset in the North, with its many attractions such as The Haynes Motor Museum, Ham Hill and Montacute House.

Steps lead you to the front door of this pretty terraced cottage. On entering the property, you are met by a cosy lounge with sofa bed, TV and DVD, making it the ideal place to relax after a day spent exploring. An archway leads you into the stylish contemporary kitchen/diner, which is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. Rising from the lounge is a winding cottage style staircase, giving access to a bright and airy double bedroom with views over the street and an adjacent shower room with shower and WC.

Heading outside, you will find an enclosed courtyard with garden furniture and a small lawn area to the rear. Located directly outside of the kitchen it’s the perfect spot for enjoying a meal outdoors. At the front of the cottage there is roadside parking for several cars subject to availability.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely and friendly village. The nearby pub serves delicious food. Central location for numerous tourist locations. Sherborne Castle is delightful and only a few minutes down the road. Not far from the most stunning coastline with amazing deep blue colour sea. We had a wonderful time and would love to return.

We found the cottage to be extremely clean and provided excellent good quality accommodation. The small courtyard and lawn was just right for our 2 dogs and very secure. Thornford is a lovely village with very friendly locals. The pub a short walk away and serves good food in pleasant surroundings. Well done Amanda and Sophie.

Beautiful cottage in a small pretty village. The cottage has been completely renovated to a very high standard. Lovely local dog walks. This property is very dog friendly and has an escape proof garden although our border terrier tried hard!!

Very enjoyable break. Cottage was immaculately, and very tastefully furnished and well equipped. Enclosed back garden area so our dog was safe to go outside. It was a good base for exploring the local area.

Immaculate cottage with everything you need for two people. Genuinely dog friendly with totally secure garden. Snug and cosy. The village has a well-stocked little shop and a good pub only a minute's walk away. Loads of footpaths leading from Thornford for good dog walks.

Beautifully presented cottage. Everything you could possibly ask for, from biscuits and duck eggs to freshly cut flowers in every room. The owner had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. Very well equipped kitchen which had been fitted quite recently, ceramic hob, cooker and microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine. It was a lovely little 1 bed place. Very nicely decorated, with lovely homely touches. Lots of room downstairs, then leading to a nice patio area and small grassed section. Very close to the local pub and shops with a short cycle or walk to lots of beautiful countryside! Very friendly little village, we had a thoroughly enjoyable time!
