Country cottage sleeping four guests, with a spacious enclosed garden overlooking the surrounding countryside with access to the River Stour, and just a short walk from Durweston village centre.

A narrow country lane leads to this idyllic cottage, giving guests a taste of the quiet, countryside surroundings that this property enjoys. As would be expected for a rural property, there are plenty of enjoyable walks to be had close by, and guests might enjoy a pleasurable stroll along the River Stour, or perhaps the circular walk around the Iron Age ramparts of the hillfort at nearby Hod Hill. Three miles south of the property, the Georgian town of Blandford Forum is a pleasant market town which not only still has a weekly market, but also maintains a range of traditional shops including a great butcher and a bakery, and even boasts its own brewery which has its own shop and is open for tours.

This single-storey cottage makes a lovely place for a quiet stay in a pretty rural location. On arrival, guests may like to make themselves comfortable in the lounge/diner where there is a warming wood burner, a TV/DVD, iPod dock, patio doors, and a selection of books for guests to enjoy. The galley-style kitchen is located just off the lounge/diner and offers an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, and coffee machine. The property has two bedrooms, the first of which is a king-size room with views overlooking the garden. The second bedroom, meanwhile, is a pleasant twin room, with 2’6” beds which can be made up as a double room on request at the time of booking. The shower room has a shower and WC.

Outside, there is a delightful covered seating area to the rear of the property, which is accessed through the patio doors in the lounge. There is garden furniture here as well as a BBQ, making it a great space for alfresco drinks or meals. Beyond this area is a spacious enclosed lawn which is great for relaxing and playing. There are also a good range of leisure facilities available to guests which include a games room with table football, an outdoor table tennis table, boules, and croquet. The owner of the property has a private stretch of the River Stour which guests can use to launch canoes if they have, and can also be used for fishing by arrangement with the owner. There are four mountain bikes available for hire, which is particularly handy if guests are unable to bring their own. A fantastic and unusual addition to the property is the shepherds’ hut which is located in a nearby paddock and offers a fun overnight glamping experience with its double bed, wood burner, separate kitchen hut, firepit, and compost WC. This can all be experienced at an additional cost of £50 per night or £250 per week and needs to be booked directly with the owner. There is ample parking available.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Lovely cottage in a perfect location. The cottage was clean and had everything needed. The garden was largely to grass and a perfect area for letting the dog have a wee run round in the evening. Also can't praise the owners enough for looking after my dog to let me have some time on my own. Definitely plan to stay here again sometime in the future.Read more Hide

A beautiful, peaceful property. Close enough to civilisation but also far enough away. The cottage had everything we needed and the welcome pack was excellent. A great place for our dogs, the garden was secure and the other animals (horses and chickens) were comfortable around them.

Great, quiet yet accessible location; lovely secure garden ideal for dogs; some minor maintenance issues ; bathroom decoration not to our taste! - however, a good cottage for 3-4 people with dogs.
