This converted farm building has been beautifully transformed into a light and airy cottage offering a tranquil getaway in idyllic rural surroundings for couples.

This lovingly restored former brew house is located on a farm next to the owner’s home and within walking distance of the pretty village of Thaxted, a picture-perfect Essex village, with a windmill and local museum, ancient guildhall, and a selection of shops, restaurants and cafes. Just a short drive away is the market town of Saffron Walden with its wide selection of independent shops, Audley End House and Gardens with its miniature railway is a great family day out and a little further afield is the beautiful city of Cambridge famed for its architecture and majestic college buildings. For those who like the great outdoors, there are some great local walks which can be finished with a stop at the local pub, which is the birthplace of Dick Turpin, for a spot of refreshment.

Enter via the front door into a spacious glass lobby area where there is space for dropping off shoes and hanging coats. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is full of character and charm with exposed beams and original brickwork. The lounge area has a comfy sofa – which can be made into a sofa bed on request, an armchair, wood burner, Smart TV, DVD and a CD player. The kitchen/diner area is fully-equipped with an electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher,  coffee machine and a dining table and chairs for four. There is a sumptuous king-size bedroom and a bathroom with a shower, slipper bath, WC and heated towel rail.

Outside, there is a hot tub, -perfect for relaxing, a patio table and chairs for four, a gas BBQ and hot and cold water taps, useful for muddy paws after a long walk. Enclosed rear patio garden.There is off-road parking for two cars.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20 for up to 7 nights, £40 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20 for every week or part week thereafter.

Goddards Mead is a tastefully renovated former Brew House on the owners farm. I booked the accommodation at the last minute for myself and our ageing Collie Penny while my husband was away. The owners have obviously thought very hard about the furnishings and layout of the open plan living area, bedroom and bathroom. It was very easy to feel at homRead moree here. Very well appointed cottage on a farm with great walks nearby. Very dog friendly with treats left for the dog as well as a basket of goodies for humans. Owners live next door and were very welcoming, nothing too much trouble.

We had a fantastic break at Goddards Mead which was a great base for exploring rural Essex. The spacious cottage is beautiful and was perfect for our holiday. There are lots of footpaths around the cottage which allows you to easily explore the surrounding countryside. The dogs enjoyed the garden and the hot tub was ideal for relaxing in. The owner was extremely hospitable and very friendly there was a lovely welcome basket with fresh flowers in the cottage there was also tea coffee sugar and milk provided as we arrived quite late in the evening this was very welcomed. The little dog next door came in and was friendly and played with our two dogs. The bed and duvet was so comfortablRead moree.
