Traditional elegance meets contemporary style in this gorgeous cottage located in Burnham Overy Staithe, a traditional Norfolk coastal village with a truly stunning sweep of golden sand.

Spending time in accommodation as resplendent as this, you may find it difficult to leave your deluxe property. Yet venture out and you will be rewarded by one of Norfolk’s prettiest regions. The village of Burnham Overy Staithe features a lovely creek in which you can swim or sail, while The Hero – a nod to Lord Nelson, who was born in adjacent Burnham Thorpe – serves locally sourced fare and regional ales. The one-mile walk to the beach across reclaimed salt marshes is well worth it, especially when the stretch of pristine sand comes into view. Birdwatchers can also walk to Scolt Head Island Nature Reserve, while Burnham Market, Wells and Brancaster are all superb destinations a short drive away.

The property’s front door opens to a wood-panelled entrance hall leading to a lounge that’s dominated by a large wooden fireplace with wood burner. A comfortable sofa and chairs enable relaxation in the room’s lovely surroundings of exposed timbers, contemporary hues and views through the windows out to the exquisite garden. Also on the ground floor is a large kitchen/diner incorporating a range-style cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and a solid wood dining table seating eight – a quintessential country kitchen with a stable door that leads out to the garden. In a separate ground-floor annexe you will find a shower, WC, washing machine and dryer. The first floor accommodation comprises one double and two single bedrooms, plus a bathroom with bath. Ascend a further flight of stairs to the huge master bedroom, which features a king-size bed, acres of storage space, sea and marsh views plus its own shower room across the landing.

The outside space consists of a pretty, south-facing lawn area enclosed by a brick wall, plus a patio area featuring everything a family could want in a holiday property garden – furniture, a BBQ, sandpit and even a Wendy house. Parking is on the street outside the property.

 

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A beautiful cottage very tastefully decorated, not the usual 'holiday' home. Lovely position, we thought that being near the road it would be noisy but not at all. A short walk to the coast and a lovely pub opposite. The Egg barbeque was fantastic and cooked our roast beef perfectly.
