A charming two-bedroom thatched cottage oozes character, with beams to the Tudor stone floor and a huge fireplace for those cosy winter evenings set in a peaceful location offering a unique stay.

Nestled on the edge of Constable Country, with many beautiful Suffolk villages in easy reach, such as Boxford, Lavenham, Dedham, Flatford, Hadleigh, Long Melford and Clare with the latter two being renowned for their antique shops and boutiques. Colchester is just seven miles and offers a castle, museums, zoo, excellent sports & leisure facilities, cinema, shopping and good restaurants. The surrounding area is ideal for walking and cycling and inspired John Constable’s fine paintings of nearby Dedham Vale, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Castle Hedingham is nearby with its Norman Motte and Bailey, the Moat is one of the finest still standing in Europe. The coastline of Suffolk and Essex are both within easy reach, making this a location with something for everyone.

Stepping into the cottage, you will enter into the charming lounge/diner. The first thing you will notice is the prominent inglenook fireplace with multi-fuel burner which can be used as an open fire and will keep you toasty on those winter evenings. The characterful beams date back to the 1500’s and the room is lined with a Tudor stone floor. There is ample comfortable seating, alongside a dining table. Leading through to the kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and microwave. The kitchen looks over the garden and has a door that leads directly outside. The spacious downstairs bathroom offers bath, shower and WC. Head up the steep winding staircase to the two bedrooms, one double and one twin, with pretty countryside views being enjoyed from each window.

Outside, the rear garden offers a patio area leading to a  lawn lined with mature shrubs and there is a lovely summer house with a fire pit outside. The small front garden has space to park one car and there is shared off-road parking for an additional car. There is a charcoal BBQ available to use.

Due to steep, narrow, old cottage style stairs, the property may not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 double and 1 twin

The cottage itself was lovely and charming. Generally well-equipped it had what we needed for a week of relaxation, and a lovely Summer House in the garden for some quiet reading with a cheeky vino. Blossom Cottage, we loved it's quirkiness, the staircase a bit tricky but that adds to the character so wouldn't change it for the world. We will be back in a warmer season as we got hit bad with the Beast from the East and were lucky we were able to make it home.
