Stop over in Northumberland and wander through England’s largest forest in Kielder where you can spot the country’s biggest remaining red squirrel population. Alternatively, take in some history and culture at one of Northumberland’s famous castles. For example, Alnwick Castle was used as a location for Downton Abbey and Harry Potter’s Hogwarts; and Bamburgh Castle’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty setting boasts a pristine beach and incredible panoramic views.
