Enjoying an enviable position overlooking some of the most beautiful farmland in Gloucestershire, this traditional cottage within the Tortworth Estate is a fantastic base for exploring the Cotswolds.

The Tortworth Estate offers fishing opportunities on a well-stocked trout lake, and there’s a great farm shop bursting with local produce. A wealth of well-marked paths are available from your front door for enthusiastic walkers and cyclists. Local attractions include Berkeley Deer Park, Berkeley Castle, Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Painswick Rococo Garden and the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. The popular town of Cheltenham, home of racing’s Gold Cup and the famous Literature Festival, is well worth visiting. There are many other local attractions including the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, Chepstow’s medieval castle, Westonbirt Arboretum, Highrove House and Gardens and the stunning town of Bath.

On entering this superb holiday home, you will find the warm and welcoming open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. With traditional wood burner and TV/DVD, the lounge is an ideal space for relaxing and entertaining in. There’s both an attractive dining area and a useful kitchen island. The stylish kitchen is well-equipped withan electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Exploring further, there’s a charmingly furnished snug with TV / DVD. You will also find a utility room, equipped with washing machine and tumble dryer, and a separate shower room with WC. Moving up to the first floor, you will find two bedrooms, each with original exposed beams. There’s a comfy king-size room, and a twin zip-and-link (which can be made up as a super-king-size on request at time of booking). You will also find a bathroom, complete with shower over the bath and WC. Heading up to the second floor, which is accessed via a steep flight of steps, you will find two cosy attic rooms, each with a single bed and limited headroom.

Stepping outside, you can relax and children can play in the large enclosed garden, which is fully furnished with BBQ, and enjoy an al fresco meal. The estate is also home to a well-stocked trout lake for those who enjoy a spot of fishing. There is ample off-road parking available.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Don't know where to start with describing how excellent Keeper's cottage was. Stunning location (but very easy access from M5), well-equipped kitchen, clean and very comfortable. The garden is great for sitting out throughout the day and the lounge is warm and cosy for colder evenings. Lots of walks from the doorstep and an excellent pub within easRead morey walking distance. 6 adults and 2 dogs stayed in the cottage and with access to the Tortworth (private) lake and grounds its in a fantastic location - assuming you like remote (which we did). The cottage is fully stocked with gadgets and utensils not to mention a huge cooker and the log fire was lush on a cold and wet day Our only criticism was saying the cottage hasRead more Wi-Fi was stretching it a bit especially as theres no phone signal either. They thought of everything from cooking appliances to toiletries in the bathroom. Great size for our family of two toddlers, three adults and two dogs. Lots to do as long as your happy to travel (which we were) also local shops if you need anything. The little touches made our stay ever more homely including hotel sized washing stuff and indoor/outRead moredoor games. Highly recommended and will look to come back again! Keepers Cottage is delightful, and the setting couldnt be better for a lovely hot June stay! We were welcomed with a delicious cake that had been left for us - a nice touch. The double bedrooms were spacious and beds and bedding very comfortable and good quality. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need - we cooked every day. We were a party of 4 adults and a dog. We found access to the cottage a little difficult on the narrow track particularly in the snow. The remote location was great for country walks. The Tortworth Lake is a nice gentle walk and well worth a visit. The cottage is well equipped with quality appliances and equipment. Wonderful time at Keepers Cottage. It is a cosy cottage with plenty of room. Very dog friendly with a boot room, towels for dogs and treats. The cottage is very well equipped and the additional touch of Christmas decorations (we were staying over NY) was lovely.
