Located in the beautiful village of Hognaston, 4 1/2 miles from the market town of Ashbourne, the property is ideally situated to explore the Carsington water area and all it has to offer (walking, cycling, sailing watersports, fishing and wildlife). It provides easy access to the Peak District and popular destinations of Ilam, Dovedale and Tissington; popular local market towns of Ashbourne and Bakewell; the stately homes of Chatsworth House, Keddleston Hall and Haddon Hall and all the fun of Alton Towers. The friendly Red Lion Pub in Hognaston provides tasty meals (lunch and evening) and drinks.

The property is a recently renovated and refurbished one bedroom cosy stone cottage, ideal for those seeking quaint village accommodation. The open-plan ground floor living area, complete with sumptuous sofa and electric log burner are made for snuggling up with a good book and provide a lovely intimate space for relaxing. What a lovely little cottage,really enjoyed our stay,and will be booking again,a card and and a bottle of wine on entry was a nice surprise,and a nice touch,would definitely recommend bagend cottage..loved it

We chose this property due to its location. It is in the perfect place for visiting the tourist attractions around the area. The cottage was clean, warm and very cozy. All equipment needed in the kitchen to cook our breakfast and make our packed lunches for days out. Lovely comfortable bed and great shower. Very quiet place so no disturbences. The Read morehousekeeper called by to check everything was ok. The added bonus was the amazing pub right next door which did lovely food!! Hide

A peaceful but active short break. A good range of local walks and the bonus of not being disturbed by a mobile phone as there was no network coverage. Absolute bliss! The cottage is exceptionally clean and tidy and has all amenities readily available.

Jo was lovely and welcoming. The pub was fantastic great food especially. Cottage was cosy and warm but you definitely need a car as nearest shop in a 10-15 minute drive. Happily stay there again!!! -Stephen and Rachel

Comfortable, well equipped and nicely situated. Lots of walks around, and easy drive to many places of interest - Tissington, Dove Dale, Bakewell, Matlock etc

Fabulous cottage for two, cosy and really well situated for walking and scenic beauty, also brilliant that you are right next door to the pub which does fabulous food (but recommend booking!)
