If you’re looking to soak up a bit of history during your stay, historic Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are only a short drive away.

The cottage is approached via the pretty walled front garden, which leads into the cosy sitting room. With a beamed ceiling, original gritstone fireplace with cast iron gas stove, an exposed stone wall and even a charming window seat, this is the perfect space in which to relax after a long day’s walking or cycling. At the rear of the cottage is the kitchen dining room, which features a slate floor, cream units, a farmhouse style dresser and small kitchen table. With a vaulted ceiling and door leading out to the yard, this is a light and airy room for cooking and enjoying your meals.

Upstairs, the bedroom has been decorated in the same fresh, clean tones, and features a large window, original fireplace and TV, while the bathroom next door is yet another light and airy space. At the rear of the cottage a yard leads to outbuildings, handy for storing bikes. A wonderful cottage in an ideal location. The cottage is cosy, warm and well furnished. Bakewell is just five minutes away and it's not much of a drive for several fantastic walks. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend Thorpe Cottage.

Thorpe cottage is so well positioned in the village we could have spent the whole week not using the car. The area around was spectacular and so accessible from the cottage. In the village there are two great pubs serving excellent food, a shop and tea rooms. We had a fabulous week and would definitely go back.

We loved the location, the village. There are two pubs nearby and a well stocked village store. With Bakewell down the road we had everything we needed at hand. The cottage was well equiped. We made lovely walks nearby. Maybe the cottage will not be ideal for very tall people, we aren't very tall so we didn't care.

The cottage was really charming and had everything we needed including a good supply of leaflets of what there is to do in the area and also a book of Peak District walks. It is really well placed in the village close to the shop and pubs. We would certainly go back and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
