Located in the Carsington Water Region of the Peak District National Park, this property is perfectly positioned to enjoy the many walks, cycle routes and watersports the area has to offer.

The Derbyshire village of Birchover is home to fascinating rock carvings, stone circles, ancient burial mounds and rocky tors. There is also a handy village shop and two inns for when you don’t feel like cooking. The neighbouring village of Winster is well worth a visit and boasts a market, more than 70 listed buildings, a bowling green and a selection of pubs.

The property is accessed via an external flight of original stone steps and is set on one level. The compact kitchen includes everything you should need throughout your stay and features a sociable breakfast bar and skylight, allowing for plenty of light in the mornings. Through the kitchen, you will find the spacious studio sitting area with a double bed and sofa. Full of character, this room features an exposed stone wall, beamed slanted ceiling and plenty of light through the three windows. The light and airy shower room features pretty splash back tiles and a further skylight, in keeping with the bright, light feel of this property.

Outside, a walled patio area with garden furniture is the perfect place to enjoy an evening drink or summer BBQ. Or, if you’re feeling energetic, why not head to the onsite tennis court for a game or two to work up an appetite?

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

The cottage was ideal for a couple and well presented. Ideally equipped and great location for walks. Dog friendly. Would book again.

Was my first staycation with my beagle. The property was very dog friendly. Nice size for a couple and a dog and close to most of the trails around the Matlock area. There are a few nearby trails with beautiful views within walking distance too.

We had a lovely stay at Hayloft. Ideally situated for walkers and such a friendly village. Great base for exploring the Peaks. Definately return.

Cosy cottage, very practical and well equipped in an excellent location. Gives directly onto several footpaths and within 5 minutes walk from 2 lovely pubs. We enjoyed the nice touches like the well stacked bookshelf, the videos and the guides of local walks. Highly recommended.

A nice space for two of us and small dog.Small enclosed courtyard useful to let the dog out.Small flight of stairs to front door not suitable for everyone.Short walk down to village where local pub welcomes dogs in the bar area.Very good pint of locally brewed beer. Enjoyed our stay

Perfect location for a walking holiday! Also close to a bus stop if you don't want to use your car for visits to Matlock or Bakewell. 2 good pubs in the village.

For walkers like us, the location is good. One of the walks in the AA book for the Peaks passes Hayloft. The cottage provides comfortable space for two. It is generally well equipped. Two tea towels and a hand towel in the kitchen was useful. Good off-road parking is a big plus for me.
