Thoughtfully updated 14th century property located within a complex of ten, enjoying spacious shared grounds in the picturesque Wye Valley close to the village of Goodrich.

This property enjoys a fantastic countryside location, just a five-minute walk from the banks of the River Wye which makes it a great choice for those who enjoy fishing or perhaps quiet country walks. The imposing ruins of Goodrich Castle overlook the property’s shared gardens and it is easy to walk up and spend a day exploring the castle and its surrounding grounds. A little further afield, there are plenty of places of interest in the area including Wilton Castle, the Forest of Dean, the ancient hillfort at Symonds Yat, the picturesque town of Ross-on Wye, and the cathedral cities of Gloucester and Hereford.

This charming two-storey property is a wonderful place to enjoy a romantic break. The property is laid out in an upside-down fashion, so the bedroom and bathroom can be found on the ground floor. The bedroom is an attractive double room with exposed brick and an ornate wooden bed, whilst the bathroom has a shower-over-bath and WC. Stairs lead to the first floor, where the main living area is located. The cosy lounge has been carefully updated to maintain the atmospheric feel of this historic building, with its vaulted ceiling, unusual shape, and exposed stone walls. A comfy sofa sits close to the window, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the warm glow of the wood burner, and perhaps a film on the TV and DVD. The kitchen/diner, which guests will find immediately at the top of the stairs, is equipped with a dining table, electric oven, hob, microwave, and fridge/freezer, whilst a washing machine and tumble dryer can be found in a shared on-site laundry room.

Outside, there are well-maintained gardens which are shared with the other properties, offering plenty of space to relax and enjoy the surroundings, perhaps enjoying a picnic on the tables, chairs, and benches scattered throughout.

This is a lovely place to stay full of character in a lovely area. We were made very welcome by the owner. We had a very relaxing stay over Christmas the place was decorated for the season and thank you for the welcome pack items which were very much appreciated.

Comfortable apartment retaining stonework and beams which gave it a real period feel. Well-equipped kitchen area made self-catering easy. Perfect for feeling tranquil and away from it all. However not many local shops in area- seemed a shame to end up at Sainsbury's - usually like to buy local on holiday. Would happily return. Hide

We loved our time there and there was so much to do including hiking canoeing etc. The room was lovely. The only Suggestion I can make for improvement is that when I rang to confirm our booking I didnt receive a call back meaning I had to ring again. The person I spoke to stated they have been so busy she hadnt had time to get back to us. No one chRead moreecked in with us when we arrived either so we had to hunt someone out. We were there for such a short time (wife was ill) that our impressions were very limited, except that the location is excellent for those wishing to walk the Wye.

We enjoyed a three night break at Hazel - Goodrich. It looked lovely on the website, but it was even more beautiful in reality. A lovely warm welcome on our arrival set the tone for our stay. Plenty of space to spread out in, but also cosy and homely, and we loved the wood burner in the evenings. We loved the original features and the fixture and fRead moreittings were perfect and gave a lovely context to the original functions of the building. A BIG thank you and we look forward to our next stay Hide
