Tucked away in the Herefordshire countryside, this sympathetically restored granary is the perfect base for families and friends wanting to make the most of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The peaceful rural village of Llangarron is an ideal base to explore the Wye Valley and Royal Forest of Dean. With a wealth of trails that can be explored on foot, cycle or horseback from your front door. Along with caving, abseiling, canoeing and a high wire rope course for the more adventurous. Offering easy access to both the riverside towns of Ross-on-Wye hailed as the birthplace of modern tourism with its 17th century market house and Monmouth the birth place of Henry V. Visit Goodrich Castle, established in 1095 set majestically within a wooded hill, and the spectacular views from Symonds Yat rock are also not to be missed. Bird of prey experiences are available, pre-booking with the owners is necessary. DIT livery available by arrangement with the owner.

Take in the peace and quiet before you step back in time to this sympathetically restored granary, the open-plan kitchen/diner is brimming with character and offers a warm welcome to all that come and stay. The kitchen area is well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The wooden farmhouse style dining table takes centre stage with a traditional dresser set to the rear and is the perfect setting for a simple supper after a full day exploring. This room opens onto a cosy lounge set with sofas and a TV/DVD ready for a movie. So, when the time comes to bid goodnight climb the stairs and beware of the sloping ceilings, where you will find two bedrooms. A super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request) which is spacious and offers great space for a travel cot, it’s further enhanced with wood panelling and exposed beams with views onto the cider mill. There is a bunk bed room with standard size bunk beds for two enjoying views onto the grounds. There is a bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

Step outside and wander across to open gardens, there is a table and chairs set to the side of the herb garden along with a BBQ, continue into the gardens to a further gated area with an open aspect onto the brook planted with specimen trees and perfect for a lazy afternoon in the sun. There is a covered bike rack and parking for two cars.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

This is probably the best cottage we have stayed in for the items provided such as dishwasher tablets, tea, coffee, milk and even a tub of butter were provided. The Welcome basket was a delight with home-made biscuits, bread, jam and fresh eggs. There are two adjacent fields in which you can exercise your dog and loads of walks nearby. The location of The Granary is great for visiting lots of places such a Symonds Yat, Tintern Abbey and my favourite, the brooding Goodrich Castle.

We had a wonderful stay at 'The Granary' with our 2 boys and dog Ralf. Lisa and Adrian were great hosts and their cottage was clean, comfortable and really well equipped. The large dog friendly garden was such a bonus and our favourite spot for a late afternoon game of cards in the sun. Our hosts provided a lovely welcome basket of essentials plus some delicious home made treats, we particularly enjoyed the apple chutney! Highly recommended - thanks for a great stay :)
