This charming courtyard cottage has been constructed from Mellow Hornton stone, exposed oak beams and rich red brick, finished with quality furnishings to offer the ideal base for a relaxing break.

This property is close the riverside market town of Banbury providing a blend of old and new with a wealth of history to explore including Mellow Hornton stone buildings, the modern shopping centre and a wide choice of shops. Banbury is situated on the River Cherwell within the Cherwell Valley, with excellent walking and cycling opportunities along the riverside paths, with many cafes, to grab a cup of coffee along the way. Close to the riverside town of Stratford-on-Avon, and Oxford, Warwick and the Cotswolds, known as Shakespeare’s Country. With many national trust properties and gardens to visit within easy reach, with is a great central location offering endless opportunities to explore.


Arriving at the stable entrance door, you walk through to a bright and cheerful lounge with beautiful exposed beams and warm red brick inviting you in to snuggle up on the comfy sofa with a good book or perhaps share a glass of wine or two with a movie on the TV and DVD player. If you choose to stay in for the evening through the property is a colourful fitted country kitchen/diner, well-equipped with mod cons including an electric oven with hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. There is a separate shared laundry room with a washing machine/dryer.The dining area has a dining table and chairs for two. On the same floor, you will find a double bedroom and a shower room with shower, wash basin and WC.


Outside, you will find private courtyard garden with furniture, where you can sit out and relax in the sunshine while taking in the peaceful country surroundings.

The Shippon was a very comfortable cottage, plenty of kitchen storage cupboards. The bed was a large size, and good to sleep on, although it was very high & my wife is short & has arthritis & struggled to get up. Would highly recommend cottage.

This was our second stay here, as before, it was absolutely first class, and well located for visiting the beautiful Cotswold's. Only tiny niggle was the designated car parking area, situated under large trees, tree sap and bird droppings were a nuisance, but with a little care you could park outside the cottage instead.

The cottage was comfortable and the owners friendly and helpful. A plumbing issue was sorted very quickly. However the website made no mention of there being a caravan and camping site on the farm, and also the fact that there were a number of permanent residences immediately next to the cottage was omitted. It wasn't the peaceful remote farm that Read moreI had hoped it would be. The surrounding area was lovely though with lots of pretty villages and the beautiful Oxford canal nearby. Ideal for walking.
