The pretty Hamlet of Clive is made up of a few scattered houses, offering easy access to great walking and cycling trails, slightly further afield the Berwyn Mountains, Ceiriog Valley, Snowdonia and the Sand Stone Trail of the Cheshire Plain. Just a few miles away from Shrewsbury the ancient medieval market town of Shropshire which is brimming with over 600 listed buildings including the castle and world famous Abbey. National Trust properties to include Chirk and Powis Castles, Erddig and Attingham Park with their beautiful grounds and gardens. With an all year round festival calendar just not to be missed.

The accommodation offers TWO bedrooms: on the ground floor, 1 double with en-suite shower and WC. On the lower ground floor, 1 double. Bathroom: with hand-held shower over bath and WC. Lounge: with woodburner (first basket of logs included) TV and DVD. Dining room. Kitchen: well-equipped with electric oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment and washing machine. Outside: an enclosed courtyard with table and chairs. We stayed for 3 weeks in Ivy Barn. We are completely in love with this beautiful and very unique home away from home. Everything was perfect, the cleanliness, comfort of the beds, the equipment, it was warm and cosy. The village of Clive is just delightful, we enjoyed the beautiful walks up Grinshill Hill. Cottage heating is excellent - the garden pretty and private - the bedrooms are compact, especially the one on the lower ground floor and the en-suite shower is not for the larger person. The sitting from, dining room and kitchen are spacious but cosily furnished - the low beams will probably claim at least one victim

A very comfortable cottage in a quiet village. It's right next to a church who's bells sound the time but that didnt bother us. the owner provided milk and bread on our arrival. The directions need adjusting. If I hadnt looked on Google Maps we would have got lost. The pub nearby is shut as is the one in the next village. We had a lovely week. Excellent, well kept & equipped. Unique character/ambience. Felt more like home than most rentals. Worthy of a return stay. Sleepy village, friendly locals. Ideal for relaxation, walks, cycling in countryside. Easy access to Shrewsbury & its varied attractions. Unfortunate that local village pub & nearby Grinshill Inn now both closed. Ivy Barn is a very cosy and comfortable cottage in a very pretty village just north of Shrewsbury. It is well appointed and the garden is a lovely place to sit on a sunny evening. Although there are a few steps, the cottage is quite manageable for those with some mobility difficulties. There are plenty of places to visit in the local area.
