Gift shops are nestled amongst restaurants and cafes and this sweet market town is famous for its Sunday Antique Market where you will be surprised by the array of antiques, silver, china and vintage designs on offer. Situated on the River Waveney, Beccles is ideally positioned at the edge of the Broads, a haven for wildlife spotting and tranquil days out on the river.
St Michael's Church
Beccles has a variety of atmospheric cafes and restaurants to stop in for a bite to eat. One of the most popular with visitors and locals alike is Upstairs at Baileys, a Mediterranean-style restaurant with a Catalan kick. A visit to Graze at The White Horse is also a must, offering everything from delicious toasties to a full evening menu. Slightly further out, you could try the award-winning Shadington Fox, and be sure to pop into The Three Horseshoes in North Cove, a delightful country pub which also welcomes your dog! If you have over-indulged and you and Rover need to work off some calories, Beccles has lots of pretty parks and riverbanks where you can enjoy a quiet stroll with man’s best friend.
Whether you are holidaying with your faithful friend or not, Beccles offers charming walks through the Suffolk countryside as well as Beccles Marshes, enjoyable at any time of the year. Do remember your wellies in winter though as it can get quite muddy! In the summer, take a trip to the retro Beccles Lido where you can catch some rays and watch the little ones splashing about. After a fun-packed morning on the giant inflatable Aquarun, they will be desperate for a snack from The Splash Bar Café and a hot chocolate will help to warm you all up while getting ready for the next adventure. Once warm and dry, jump on The Big Dog Ferry up to Geldeston Locks; this river cruise ends up at The Locks Inn and is an ideal place to stop for dinner as the sun goes down.

The more adventurous could try their hand at some karting at Ellough Park Raceway or even muddy up for their new Combat Games zone. If that isn’t exciting enough, then head along the road to UK Parachuting where you will be able to see the area from a higher viewpoint – binoculars optional!
