Holidays in Bridlington

A seaside gem with beautiful sandy beaches and a historic harbour

Striking cliff edge

Bridlington is a charming coastal town with a busy harbour, award-winning promenades and stunning, sandy beaches. Bridlington is located on the Holderness Coast of East Yorkshire, 24 miles from Kingston upon Hull. The town’s most popular attractions are undoubtedly its two sandy beaches, where you can sunbathe, swim, or even take a leisurely donkey ride along the shore.

The beaches are backed by elegant promenades, packed with old-fashioned seaside attractions, including funfairs and amusement arcades. The Gypsey Race runs through the town centre and meets the sea at the harbour, which is renowned for its shellfish. There are also three pleasant parks and a number of listed buildings, including the magnificent Bridlington Priory.

A great way to end your day at the seaside is with a show at The Spa Royal Hall and Theatre, one of the region’s best entertainment venues, with a packed programme of dance, pantomime, theatre and more. Another Bridlington must-see is Sewerby Hall and Gardens, a magnificent country house with a zoo, woodland walks and plenty of activities to keep children entertained.

Some of the northeast coast’s most interesting towns, villages and cities can be easily reached from Bridlington. The Edwardian resort of Filey lies just ten miles to the north, and is well worth a visit for its sandy beaches and old-fashioned attractions. Nearby Whitby is also a charming place to explore, with quaint cottages and excellent seafood restaurants. Alternatively, take a trip to the lively town of Scarborough for fairground rides, ice-cream parlours and a good selection of shops.

Bridlington has a wide range of dining choices, from the fish and chip shops and tearooms you would expect from a seaside town to modern restaurants, serving cuisines from around the world. One of the town’s most popular cafes is Times Gone By, a popular spot for breakfast, full of retro artefacts.
