A pretty village in the heart of the Suffolk countryside

UK | East of England | Suffolk | Debenham
Discover the Suffolk countryside

Not far north of Ipswich, this beautiful village is made up of shallow valleys of four streams which come together to form the River Deben which then leads out to the sea at Felixstowe.

Debenham is surrounded by a patchwork quilt of sweet little Suffolk villages as well as the larger city of Norwich to the north, the coastal town of Lowestoft to the east, and the famous racing town of Newmarket to the west.

You will be sure to receive a warm welcome at this little peaceful corner of England as it is known for its friendly locals and great hospitality.

Take a trip to the coast

North of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB, it is easy to just hop in the car and head to one of the nearby coastal towns such as Orford or Aldeburgh where you can spend an afternoon on the beach and sample some of their famous seafood. Slightly further up the coast is Lowestoft where you can hop on a river taxi to see the sights!

You can of course pop down to the vibrant waterfront town of Ipswich for the day - full of culture, shopping and places to eat, you will not be stuck for something to do.

There are some lovely places to eat both in Debenham and the surrounding areas; the Vanilla Bake House is the perfect place for afternoon tea with lots of scrumptious cakes and pastries. It has a great selection for vegetarians too.

Slightly further away in Stowmarket, there is the gorgeous deli and café at the Chilli Farm which also offers gluten free and vegetarian options.

Nearby Stonham Aspal has some great eateries, and Framlingham and Needham Market are also worth a visit, not only to dine out but to have a look around too.

A quirky place in which to while away an afternoon is Carters Teapots in the nearby Stonham Aspal where you can paint your own teapot or buy some for your friends back home.
