Looking back at Porthcawl seafront.

Porthcawl is a lively seaside town with beautiful, sandy coves, an elegant promenade and one of the world’s biggest Elvis impersonation events.

Porthcawl is located on the Welsh coast, between Cardiff and Swansea. For centuries, it has been one of the country’s best-loved resorts, with a wealth of old-fashioned seaside attractions. The town centre is an enjoyable place to wander around, with plenty of interesting shops and a scattering of excellent restaurants and cafes. The beaches close to the town are spectacular, but if you feel like venturing further afield, vast, empty bays can be found a short distance to the west.

Every September, Elvis fans from around the world gather for Porthcawl Elvis Festival. The event takes place in the beautiful Grand Pavilion and features hundreds of performances by some of the world’s best Elvis impersonators.

Porthcawl is one of Wales’ best surf spots, with various waves, suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to experts. Unlike many of the country’s surf spots, Porthcawl is pretty consistent and you’re unlikely to be find a flat sea when you arrive at the beach. Rest Bay, Coney Beach and Newton Beach all have good surfing conditions and plenty of space for learning. Porthcawl Surf School provides all the guidance and equipment you’ll need to hit the water and catch your first wave.
