Set in West Somerset and named as the first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1956, the Quantock Hills have a distinctive and stunning character that is loved by many visitors to the region. For outdoor lovers, the Quantock Hills offer plenty of things to do. One of the most popular activities to enjoy is walking the many trails and pathways scattered throughout the hills. There are walks suitable for all abilities and many admire the difference in landscape from ancient woodlands to the fascinating coastline. A great route to explore is the Cothelstone Hill Walk; this 2.5-mile route is a waymarked trail and offers you the opportunity to see Exmoor ponies, three bronze age burial grounds and the remains of a folly tower. You’ll also enjoy 360 degree views when you reach the top. Other popular routes include the Kilve and East Quantockhead Walk, which lets you admire the Jurassic coastline, and the Hawkridge Woods Walk, which takes you through luscious woodland.

If you’re looking to sample local produce on your stay, the hills have an abundance of delicious eateries to enjoy. A stay in the area means you are never more than a few miles from a pub that offers tasty locally sourced food and drink. There are also lots of farmers markets to explore including markets at Cotford St Luke, Bridgwater, Taunton and Minehead.

A little further afield, you’ll find the city of Bristol which offers a great day out. The hills are also close to Somerset’s beautiful coastline and the locations of Kilve and Watchet are just a short drive away.
