White colonnades and squares characterise this impressive West Midlands town

Royal Leamington Spa

Amongst the striking architecture and hidden squares and gardens you will find one of the most interesting towns to shop, and wine and dine in the heart of England: Royal Leamington Spa.

Long streets and avenues offer a diverse range of independent shops and brand favourites. You’ll never need to eat or drink at the same pub twice because the choice is second to none. Evening entertainment is assured and cool with some very good bars and chic nightspots. You could even take in a show at the Spa Centre, Loft Theatre or Assembly.

Royal Leamington Spa grew out of the 19th century discovery of a natural spa spring, and such springs were a commercially viable prospect for their healing properties. The town still has a lot going for it nowadays. Why not hire a boat on the River Leam or discover the quirky tale of the Elephant Walk?

The Pump Rooms

The town has a popular annual Food and Drink Festival early in September and it’s also still possible to visit the source of the spa at the Royal Pump Rooms Art Gallery and Museum. Another of the town’s stand-out attractions is the immaculate Grade II-listed Jephson Gardens, with its subtropical greenhouses.

Leamington Spa is within striking distance of the historic towns and cities of Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Coventry, while a little further away is England’s second largest city, Birmingham. There’s certainly no shortage of interesting visitor attractions in the area.

“Royal Leamington Spa is full of architectural beauty…”

Warwick is home to its iconic riverside castle, one of the best classic examples in the country. Everybody knows that Stratford-upon-Avon is the place to go if you are into the works of playwright William Shakespeare. You can spend a whole day walking in his footstep at the various museums and old houses, including his wife, Anne Hathaway’s old home. Coventry was once the centre of the British motor engineering industry, little of that remains today, but a trip to the National Transport Museum in the city centre is well-worth your trouble. There are several lovely country parks around the city like Coombe Abbey too. Football fans should pay a visit to the ‘Sky Blues’ stadium, the Ricoh Arena. Warwick Arts Centre is a great local spot for seeing some good live theatre, music or a film.
