Holidays in Scarborough

Where seaside charm and sandy bays meet historical character and a rocky coast

Scarborough from a distance

As the first seaside resort in the UK, Scarborough is the perfect place to experience a traditional holiday by the seaside. The colourful seafront is home to a number of buildings with Victorian charm, and a mix of cafes, theatres and amusement arcades. Also known as the “Queen of the Yorkshire coast’, the town is home to two beautiful bays, one of which has been awarded Blue Flag beach status.

Aside the beachfront, the town also has a rich heritage and is dominated by the iconic Scarborough Castle, which stands on the rocky headland overlooking the golden sands. This popular feature standing majestically on the Scarborough skyline gives you panoramic views of over Yorkshire’s dramatic coastline whilst offering you an insight to this history of the area, dating back over 2,500 years. Enjoy an audio tour throughout the castle and grounds then stop for tea in the grand Master Gunner’s House offering a pleasant exhibition whilst you enjoy a delicious treat.

Scarborough Castle

Another of Scarborough’s top features includes its fantastically diverse natural landscape. Just a few miles north of the town, you’ll see the point in which the moors meets the sea, offering you captivating sights including waterfalls, secluded coves and impressive cliff views.

The popular tourist spot at South Bay beach offers a traditional bucket and spade experience, ideal for families looking for a mix of relaxation and activities for the kids. North Bay is Scarborough’s Blue Flag beach offering a state of the art Beach Centre near to the shore with incredible facilities. Explore the rock pools at low tide or pop to the nearby Sealife Centre to admire a variety of fascinating marine life. The town’s traditional features make it a wonderland for children and adults alike with boat trips, donkey rides and Scarborough’s mini theme park providing excitement and fun for the whole family.
