Torquay is characterised by its sandy beaches, in fact there are 22 of them all situated within easy reach. These number Torre Abbey Sands, Watcombe Beach and Anstey Cove. There are plenty of fantastic things to do and enjoy, including the Princess Theatre, a cinema, and Babbacombe Model Village. For the more active, Torquay Golf Club and Waves Leisure Pool are perfect, while there are many pubs, restaurants, shops, a museum, and great nightlife to be enjoyed.is famous for being the birthplace of Agatha Christie.
Both the Torquay Museum and the 800-year old Torre Abbey (home to the largest art gallery in Devon) have exhibits related to the the crime novelist. Walk the Agatha Christie Mile and visit her former home, Greenway, now managed by the National Trust in Brixham

Located between Brixham and Torquay, Paignton has been enthralling visitors for decades. Paignton Beach and the nearby Preston Sands are the best places in Torbay to practice water sports such as windsurfing and dinghy sailing. However, the most famous attractions in the town still remains Paignton Zoo and the South Devon Railway. Also visit the grand 19th-century Oldway Mansion once the home of the Isaac Singer, the founder of the Singer Sewing Machine Company.
Sub-tropical Torquay
The attractive Brixham, built on hilly grounds, was the country's busiest fishing port in the 19th century. It is also the place where the fishing trawler was invented. However, Brixham is best remembered in history as the port where William III of Orange and his Dutch army landed on 5 November 1688, during the Glorious Revolution, in which King James II was deposed without bloodshed in favour of his Protestant nephew and son-in-law. Today you'll find a replica of Sir Francis Drake's famous ship the Golden Hind anchored in Brixham Harbour. There is an abundance of restaurants and pubs to dine in Brixham, many specialise in seafood. Also check out the Brixham Heritage Museum, which has many articles that relate to the town's history. If you love birdlife, take a stroll around Berry Head Nature Reserve where you'll find many fine species to watch.
If you love the great outdoors and the sea, in Torbay you will have access to activities available to try, including diving, sailing and surfing too. If you prefer to keep your feet dry, take a walk along the South West Coast Path, with stunning views out across the vast stretch of coastline.
