Weston-super-Mare view
This welcoming town is located on the Bristol Channel coast, 18 miles southwest of Bristol. With its long sandy beaches and wealth of family attractions, Weston-super-Mare has been one of Somerset’s top tourist destinations for centuries. The Grand Pier, Helicopter Museum, aquarium and Wheel of Weston are all located in the heart of the resort. From Weston-super-Mare’s beautiful beach, Exmoor and Wales can be seen across the sweeping Weston Bay.
A trip to Weston-super-Mare would be incomplete without a wander along the famous Grand Pier, which has been entertaining visitors since 1904. This majestic structure was badly damaged by fire in 2008 but was beautifully restored and reopened two years later with a more impressive selection of rides, amusement arcades and eateries than ever. As you explore the 400-metre-long pier, you’ll discover Edwardian-style tearooms and a series of hair-raising rides, including The Robocoaster. If you’re after a mellower experience, check out the dodgems, go-karts, Adventure Cove and Crazy Circus.
Also well worth a visit is the renowned SeaQuarium , located on its own pier, at the seafront. Visitors can get an incredible view of sharks, piranhas, puffer fish and a variety of exotic species, thanks to a series of underwater viewing tunnels.

One of Weston-super-Mare’s more unusual attractions is the Helicopter Museum , which is home to almost 100 aircraft including the world speed record holder, G-Lynx, a Russian Hind Gunship and the Huey Bell UH-1H. The museum hosts a variety of unique events and even offers helicopter flights, for an unforgettable view of the Somerset countryside.
Weston-super-Mare is a great place for food and drink, with a variety of pubs, restaurants and cafes to choose from in the town centre. For a good meal with sea views, check out The Cove, a welcoming bar and restaurant, where local, seasonal ingredients are used to create a variety of simple, beautifully presented dishes. If you’re in the mood for a burger, try Stateside Diner, an American-style establishment, offering 10 styles of burger and a choice of chicken, beef or vegetarian. For a cup of tea or hearty full English breakfast, it’s hard to beat The Milton Larder, a traditional café, known for its reasonable prices.
