Ambleside is at the heart of the Lake District and with lots of holiday cottages with their own hot tub, it’s the ideal place to immerse yourself in the stunning surroundings and relax in comfort. After a busy day hiking, climbing, canoeing or fishing, there’s nothing better than returning to your self-catering accommodation and soothing your aching limbs in a warm, bubbling hot tub with a glass of wine. A haven for outdoor enthusiasts, Ambleside has lots of outdoor shops, a range of eateries and its own climbing wall.
The Lake District is one of England’s most beautiful National Parks and staying at one the many cottages in Ambleside ensures you’re within easy reach of many of its highlights. It is located at the northern end of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, which makes it well-situated to discover the many towns and villages on its shores. You could also hop on a river cruise, paddle a kayak or hire a sailing boat to see it from a different perspective. The area has many links with Beatrix Potter, one of England’s much-loved authors; her home, Hill Top, is in Sawrey and there is a museum and gallery in Hawkshead. Grasmere is also close by which is famous for its gingerbread and for being the resting place of William Wordsworth. At the end of a tiring day, return to your accommodation with its hot tub and cook up a meal before enjoying a spot of stargazing.
