A place further north than Moscow, where palm trees thrive and you can see Britain’s largest landslips and the most peculiarly shaped rock formations you may ever witness – the Isle of Skye offers more than views. Walk to the famed Old Man of Storr, try a dram at Talisker Distillery, go wildlife spotting to glimpse red deer, sea eagles and otters, and lose yourself in remote villages and forgotten glens.
It’s a famous European playground for mountaineers, trekkers, salmon fishers, bird watchers, mountain bikers and kayakers, while also home to live music venues, heritage centres, working crofts and ancient castle ruins. Be sure to take your camera as you won’t believe your eyes; it’s just that kind of place.
