Swanage is an enduringly popular holiday destination on the Dorset coast. Situated on the beautiful Isle of Purbeck, the town is the perfect location for those looking to explore the Jurassic Coast, which begins at nearby Old Harry Rocks and extends all the way into East Devon.
Holidays in Swanage are typically full of beach days, coast walks, countryside exploration and satisfying your taste buds with an array of delicious local food. Swanage has a glorious, golden sand beach, lapped by crystal-clear water in which a dip is hard to resist. The family-friendly beach is also a lovely spot for a stroll, with a picturesque promenade and colourful beach huts adding to the holiday atmosphere. There are many other things to do outside of town too. Nearby Durlston Country Park (1.5 miles) is a lovely spot for cliff-top walks and discovering more about the history of the area. Also, take a ride onboard a steam train on the Swanage Railway through the Purbeck countryside to Corfe Castle – a lovely, nostalgic day trip.
