This tasteful cottage is ideally situated in the popular village of Hawkshead, with numerous notable attractions, and walks to ramble.

There is a choice of pubs in the village, home to the Beatrix Potter Gallery and the grammar school where William Wordsworth was once a pupil. Hawkshead also has a selection of interesting shops and plenty of places to eat out. The village enjoys a prime location at the heart of the region, with both Lake Windermere and Coniston being a short drive away. Not to be missed is a visit to Claife Viewing Station, just a ten-minute drive away, a purpose-built viewing platform which offers majestic views over Lake Windermere.

Entering through the side-porch of the property, guests will come to the first of two living areas: the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This room has a contemporary feel and has deep, comfortable sofas from which to watch the TV or simply relax in front of the wood burner. The dining table seats six and is situated by the French windows which lead out to the garden. The kitchen is well-equipped with an oven, electric hob, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A second, separate lounge at the front of the property looks out over a neighbouring fields and has an open fire, comfortable seating, TV, and DVD. On the first floor, guests will find three bedrooms: a double, a twin, and a single room. The bathroom is also on the first floor, and benefits from both a bath and separate shower, as well as a WC.

Outside, there is an enclosed garden with a patio area with table and chairs, where guests can enjoy al fresco dining. There is off-road parking for two cars as well as bike storage.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Visited in August 2017. The house is in a perfect location within walking distance of one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District. There is off main road parking next to the property with is very quiet. There are many walks and cycle routes direct from the door; we didn't even need to use our car. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise, the Read moremarmalade was particularly delicious. The open plan kitchen/dining/living area was spacious, comfortable and modern. Great cottage in a great location. Excellent facilities, very clean and well equipped. First time we've stayed in a Hideaways cottage but very impressed with the cottage and the company. Will definitely use Hideaways again and would definitely return to Applerigg

Stayed at this property three times now always in December. The cottage is extremely cosy, there is a woodburner but the central heating is brilliant. Lovely modern kitchen/dining/ lounge, bright and airy. Comfortable beds. We've stayed around Hawkshead a lot and this is the best property we have rented. Well located just outside the centre of the village but close to shops and pubs. Applerigg has been beautifully modernised to provide an excellent standard of holiday accommodation. The kitchen and bathroom are particularly spacious and well fitted. I have stayed at this property twice and noticed year on year improvements . This house was in a superb location -very close to but not within the beautiful village of Hawkshead. The staff at Lakeland Hideaways could not have been more helpful. The house was well equipped and met every need.

Beautiful scenery provides a great back drop for a well positioned holiday home on the outskirts of hawkshead. The house is great, well maintained, and laid out, providing excellent accommodation for a week in the lakes. Plenty to see and do in the immediate environs.
