The house although a little outdated is a very comfortable place to stay. It is set in a beautiful peaceful area that is great for mountain biking, cycling and walking. The cottage is very nice. Plenty of room. We were 4 but plenty of room for 8 people except for only 1 bathroom and a 2nd WC which for 8 people would be tricky. They missed a trick, it would be fairly east to give the upstairs double an ensuite. The utility is great for washing and boots. Nice big kitchen. For some it may feel a bit dated but I likeRead mored the retro feel to it with floral curtains and dark furniture. WiFi works well too! Hide

Good cottage with all the basics for our needs. Nowhere to dry clothing when your holiday is wet. Good central area for walking holidays, and driving to other attractions. Good size bedrooms, large lounge with plenty of seating.

We decided on a last minute short break with Lakeland Hideaways and chose Black Fell Cottage. Ideally situated a short drive from Hawkshead (or a longer but pleasant walk for those so inclined!) this is a large comfortable property with pleasant views down from the sizeable garden. The kitchen has recently been replaced and is very nice. The open Read morefire quickly took the chill off the living room and there are storage and portable heaters for the rest of the house, making it a lovely place to come in winter. Beds very comfortable, as are the sofas and chairs in the living room. Hide

We have had many fun weekends up in the Lakes and Black Fell cottage is wonderfully positioned in a rural location. We spend our days walking so only need somewhere warm and comfortable to spend the night. The inside of the cottage is simple, not smart or luxury but generally it has everything we need. Hot water can be a little temperamental but thRead moree open fire really gets the place lovely and cosy. The fitted kitchen could do with a little refreshing as it's worn out and the lawn could do with mowing to give it a slightly more 'cared for' feel. If you are looking for a simple, cost effective place to stay to enjoy the outdoors, this is perfect. Hide
