Beautiful terrace cottage in the pretty hamlet of Far Sawrey, less than two miles from Lake Windermere, the perfect base for exploring the Lake District.

The hamlet of Far Sawrey has a popular pub The Cuckoo Brow Inn whilst the neighbouring village, Near Sawrey, is home to Hill Top, the National Trust managed former home of Beatrix Potter, not to be missed by anyone who enjoyed her books as a child. The larger village of Hawkshead is only a short drive away and has several National Trust properties, including the historic Grammar School, where William Wordsworth was once a pupil, also offers a choice of pubs, cafes, and some lovely shops.

Guests will appreciate the attention to detail in this cottage, which has been tastefully and elegantly decorated in muted colours throughout, giving it a restful and relaxing atmosphere. On entering the property through the stable door, guests will immediately come to the welcoming lounge, with its comfortable seating and large fireplace which now houses the wood burner, making sure that the cottage remains lovely and cosy, whatever the weather. There is also a TV and a DVD here, which guests will appreciate relaxing in front of after a day of sightseeing and outdoor pursuits. The spacious kitchen/diner is located to the rear of the property and offers a dining table seating six, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, and washer/dryer, whilst a freezer can be found in the under-stairs cupboard. A prettily glazed door leads from the dining area, through a porch to the rear of the property. The master bedroom with double bed and en-suite shower room with WC, is located on the first floor, as is the main bathroom, with its shower over the bath and WC. Two further bedrooms are located on the second floor: a double and a twin, which both have low sloping ceilings, dormer windows and lovely views of the surrounding area.

To the rear of the property, is a lovely enclosed garden, which has a patioed seating area, with steps leading down to a lawn, where there is shed which can be used for storing bikes. A gate at the bottom of the garden leads to the off-road parking.

A nice property for a family, or extended family, in one of the most peaceful corners of the Lake District. The property has a large, safe, enclosed garden which is ideal for children and adults as well as a well behaved dog.

Cottage was perfectly placed, extremely well laid out and was very warm with the fire lit. Right in the countryside with plenty of walking paths from the door. There was a daily delivery from the milkman (if required) for various supplies (good bacon). The Cuckoo Brow (not bad) was only a few metres away, a 15 minute walk to the Tower Bank Arms wouRead moreld be better value. Booking required at both. Hide

Brook End is a lovely cottage in an excellent location for the Southern Fells. We were impressed with the facilities and comfort of the cottage, especially the log burner for which fuel had been thoughtfully provided.
