Attractive ground-floor apartment in a large country house on the shore of Esthwaite Water and a short distance to many of the Lake District’s most popular sights.

This property is surrounded by the beautiful landscapes that make the Lake District a famous holiday destination. With plenty of local opportunities for walking, whether you want a relaxing stroll, or a challenging climb, it’s the ideal spot. One mile from the property is the village of Hawkshead, which offers a choice of pubs and shops, as well as several National Trust properties, including the Beatrix Potter Gallery and the historic Grammar School, where William Wordsworth was once a pupil. This large country house is in a wonderful elevated position overlooking Esthwaite Water, set in 40 acres of beautiful gardens and woodland.

Entering this ground-floor apartment, guests will first come to the main living area, an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner which enjoys stunning mountain views. The dining table sits in the window, to make the most of the wonderful location, whilst comfortable seating allows guests to enjoy the TV/DVD, and Nintendo games console. The light and spacious kitchen area is equipped with an oven, hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, and dishwasher, whilst laundry facilities are available onsite. The property’s two bedrooms are both tastefully decorated with pine furniture. The master bedroom is a lovely and spacious room with a king-size bed and views over the lake. The second bedroom is a pretty twin, which has views of the woodland to the rear of the property. The spacious bathroom has a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, the property has shared access to the wonderful 40 acres of gardens and woodlands, which includes a children’s play area with swings, climbing frame, and outdoor table tennis. The shore of Esthwaite water is accessible via private grassy area - perfect for a picnic or watching the sunset over the mountains . Off-road parking provided.

Fantastic location with beautiful grounds. Very comfortably furnished with plenty of cupboard space in kitchen area and bedrooms and hooks and shelves in the hall area for storage. Daily milk delivery if required and facilities for recycling. The Warden on site is very reassuring and he was very helpful in every way. Lovely location, very relaxed and welcoming. The little touches like the goody bag upon arrival and some essentials that were provided were really lovely and saved us running to shop the moment we arrived! We loved the view from our window! Would definitely recommend!

A comfortable and clean apartment with everything we needed. The gardens were fantastic and the view over the lake was wonderful. A perfect location for exploring the area. Alan the warden was most helpful. We couldn't fault our visit and would definitely return there.

We can highly recommend a stay at Broomriggs. My husband, myself and our two boys, 2 & 5 had a lovely relaxing weekend here at the beginning of March. Our apartment was stunning with views over Esthwaite water. It was well heated, quiet & there was lots of room. The recently refurbished bathroom is huge and very luxurious. Alan (the warden) & familRead morey were very welcoming and the house & grounds are simply stunning with a lovely play park for the children. I could have spent all day looking through my binoculars at the lake. However we were here for The National Trust Children's book festival at Wray Castle, which is 12 minutes away by car. We cannot wait to come back! Only thing to note is towels are not provided, so don't forget them like I did! The Lakeland Hideaways office in nearby Hawkshead (2mins) rented us some, so all's well that ends well. Hide

The owners of Broomriggs 5 have provided everything necessary for a relaxing and comfortable holiday in a quite exceptional and secure setting. Alan, the estate manager, maintains the beautiful grounds and is on hand to provide advice should it be needed. The location half way between Sawrey and Hawkshead means a range of shops and pubs are just aRead more few minutes drive away. We used Booths supermarket in Windermere which has an excellent range of very good food and wine. For the record it is not possible at present to access Claife Heights directly from the back of Broomriggs which means trying to find a parking spot in Sawrey to walk up to Moss Eccles Tarn, etc. Hide

Just back from a relaxing week at Broomriggs. An excellent base for exploring the local area, and lots to do nearby. The accommodation itself was clean and roomy, with on site facilities such as boating, putting, table tennis and children's play equipment. There is also an on site warden to deal with any problems, and delivery of milk and provisionRead mores can be arranged. The property has views over Esthwaite Water, which was beautiful, and has well-kept gardens. Several pubs and restaurants a 5 minute drive away in Hawkshead - The Sun Inn particularly worthy of a mention for its food. Hide
