Elegantly styled detached cottage in a quiet area in the pretty village of Hawkshead, within easy reach of Lake Windermere.

This property enjoys a location in a quiet residential area of the popular village of Hawkshead, which is renowned for its connections to Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. There are a number of National Trust managed cottages in the village, as well as a choice of pubs and shops. The purpose-built viewing platform at Claife Heights is just five miles from the property, from where visitors are able to enjoy unrivalled views across to Lake Windermere, where pleasure boats run to-and-fro, taking visitors between the towns of Ambleside and Bowness.

On entering the bungalow, via the hallway, guests will first come to the welcoming lounge with its warming colour scheme, cosy wood burner, comfy sofas, TV, DVD, CD and iPod dock, which make this a wonderfully relaxing space to return to at the end of a busy day. The spacious kitchen/diner has a table seating four, beyond which the well-equipped kitchen area has an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, and dishwasher, whilst the washing machine and tumble dryer can be found in the nearby utility room. Door from the kitchen/diner lead out to the garden, allowing guests to easily serve alfresco drinks or meals. There are two bedrooms, a master double with en-suite shower and WC, and a zip-and-link twin room which can be made up as a king-size upon request. The bathroom benefits from having both a roll-top bath as well as separate shower cubicle with WC.

Outside there is a pretty garden with both lawn and patio areas, with outdoor furniture from which to enjoy the views. There is off-road parking for two cars and secure bike storage available.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

The cottage is lovely and in a great location, with a short easy walk into Hawkshead centre. The gardens are enclosed and have excellent views front and back. The cottage is very clean, very comfortable and definitely now a favourite.

We loved our stay at Curlew Cottage. With marvellous views over to Latterbarrow in one direction and the village of Hawkshead in the other, what's not to like? Very well equipped and with the bonus of a log burner in the lounge, our stay was very comfortable even on the coldest days. The cottage is dog friendly - our two Irish Setters loved it - anRead mored everything is on one level, so very convenient. The village, with any number of eateries is an easy 5 minute stroll away. The only thing to be aware of is that parking in front of the garage is a very tight squeeze and needs careful reversing skills! Definitely a place to return to. Hide

We try to book the cottage each year to get away from the constant fireworks at home. It's nice and relaxing without our pet collie trying to climb the walls. Curlew benefits from a village location with easy access to the centre of the village, but wheelchair access is up a steep but short hill.
