Spacious property located in the village of Hawkshead, in a popular area of the Lake District, within easy reach of both Lake Windermere and Coniston Water.

Hawkshead is one of the region’s best-loved villages, celebrated for its pretty winding streets and literary heritage. The Beatrix Potter Gallery here offers seasonally changing exhibitions about the author’s life and work. The scenery is, of course, absolutely stunning and Lake Windermere and Coniston Water are both within easy reach, as is Grizedale Forest, with its walking routes, sculpture trail and high-ropes centre.

Entering this handsome double-fronted property, guests will come to the hallway, which has doors on either side leading to the reception rooms. The first of these, to the right-hand side is an elegant lounge with an open fire, bay window, and comfortable seating. This room is separated from the attached TV room by a curtain, giving this space the flexibility to be used to suit guests’ needs. The TV room has a less formal feel and has a TV/DVD. Crossing back over the hall, the dining room is a wonderfully spacious room with a large table seating twelve, a stylish Welsh dresser, and a piano that guests are welcome to play. An archway from here leads through to a second lounge, with comfortable sofas. A corridor from the this room, takes guests to the kitchen with its freestanding units, Range-style cooker, fridge, and dishwasher. Next to the kitchen is a large boot room, with plenty of shelving to keep muddy footwear, a freezer, and with attached shower room with WC, is a very convenient addition to the house. A door opposite here leads out to the garden. Finally, at rear of the house, there is a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, and a second fridge. Stairs from the hall lead to the bedrooms which are all located on the first floor. Four of these are double rooms, three of which have en-suite shower rooms and WC, whilst the fourth has a handy sink. There are then two single rooms and one twin, which also has an en-suite shower room. There is also a shower room with WC, as well as bathroom with bath and WC.

Outside, there is a patio garden with a range of seating and a BBQ. There is ample off-road parking provided for up to six cars.

Greenbank is a lovely house with ample space to relax & unwind. The kitchen is particularly well-equipped -- with far more utensils than I've ever seen in other rental properties! The book shelves are crammed with a veritable library: not only books, but games, puzzles, DVDs; so that, if it rained all week, you couldn't get bored!

The holiday cottage was ideal for us - 7 people each needing a separate bedroom - as it is roomy, with several sitting areas. Having so many bedrooms with en suite shower/toilet was great, and there is a good, spacious kitchen, with plenty of pans, crockery etc. The weather was OK, but not brilliant, so we didn't sit out much, but for us this was tRead morehe only downside of the property - the outside space is very limited. While not the most luxurious cottage we have stayed in, it is possibly the most practical with its large boot room and laundry area, well equipped kitchen and lots of shower rooms which made it excellent for our large groups. The location - 2 mins from a well stocked Coop and multiple pubs and cafes added to its convenience.

We rented this property for an extended family holiday, that consisted of 12 people. The property was large enough for us with enough space that we never felt on top of each other. The kitchen is very well equipped with plenty of cutlery, plates, utensils and pots and pans. The location of the property was ideal and suited the older members of our Read moreparty who could just have a stroll around Hawkshead if they didn't want to go further afield. Hide

Greenbank is an excellent venue for a family celebration. There is plenty of space to be together or chance for a bit of solitude too. Hawkshead has everything you need, with shops, pubs and cafs. There are excellent walks from your doorstep and good public transport too. Greenbank is very conveniently located on the edge of the village and only a very short distance from the shops and pubs fourth time we have stayed here and have really enjoyed each visit . The goody bag on our arrival was very much appreciated .

Fantastic property with the most perfect location for what we needed needed it. Nice little touch with the welcome basket and being allowed to get early access was a great bonus. Staff at the office were brilliant and couldn't be more helpful if they tried. It's safe to say that we'll be hopefully booking again for the same time next year!!!!

The house is in a perfect location, nice and close to pubs and shops in Hawkshead. The house was perfect for a number of families to get together with most rooms en-suite and 3 living areas plus the boot room to keep the coats and boots etc. Some of the bathrooms are ready for an update but worked perfectly fine. We chose this property to spend a weekend with friends and family to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. It had plenty of bedrooms with 4 being ensuite. These ensuite bathrooms were very small but did what they were supposed to. Greenbank is an excellent house close to the centre of Hawkeshead. We stayed there for a family get together and had a wonderful time. We had intended to eat out but the well appointed kitchen made it a pleasure to cook family meals together. Would heartilly recommend.
