Other buildings of note in the village include The Old Grammar School, attended by William Wordsworth and the former Courthouse. Despite the cottage decoration being a little tired, this is a clean and comfortable cottage. It was a good size for our party of six adults. Hawkeshead Hall is well located being 5 mins walk away from Hawkeshead and accessible by road to Ambleside and right by the Tarn Hows footpath. The house feels more like a family home than a holiday let. Each of the three first floor bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms complete with a power shower and lots of lovely hot water. The house was lovely Read moreand warm during our stay in chilly January. We stayed there with our two daughters & their husbands and our five month old Granddaughter who had previously managed to keep us all awake at night over Christmas when staying in our family home. Hawkeshead Hall is a lovely spacious & substantial home where we were all (with the exception of the baby's parents) managed to sleep in great comfort during our stay. I would highly recommend it for multi generational parties. Hide
