A fine example of an Arts and Crafts cottage, located in the village of Near Sawrey, the home of Beatrix Potter and a short distance from Lake Windermere.

This cottage is located in Near Sawrey, the location of Hill Top, the beloved home of Beatrix Potter, now owned by the National Trust and a fitting memorial to the writer. Just two miles from the property is the shoreline of Lake Windermere, and the ferry terminal from a where a small car ferry takes visitors across the lake to Bowness. Those who want to enjoy the outdoor pursuits that this area is famous for, will find plenty to do within a few miles of the property, including water sports on Coniston Water, climbing at Dow Crag, the high ropes course and zip wire in Grizedale forest.

Entering this cottage through the timber porch, guests will immediately notice just how much care and attention has gone into the details to keep the interior of this cottage in-keeping with its Arts and Crafts heritage. The lounge features an open fire, and pretty window seat, as well as more modern creature comforts in the form of the TV/DVD, and hi-fi. Across the hall, there is a contemporary kitchen equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher, whilst the washing machine and tumble dryer are located in a separate utility room. The dining room makes the perfect place for enjoying family meals and there is also a ground-floor WC. On the first floor, the master bedroom has carefully chosen antique furniture, including a sumptuous Edwardian double bed, whilst the second bedroom is a tastefully decorated twin with views across the surrounding countryside and twin beds. The bathroom offers the best of both worlds, with a bath, separate shower cubicle and WC.

Outside, the property has a lawn to front of the property, and seating area to the side: a lovely place to relax and enjoy the quiet surroundings. The cottage also has one acre of woodland to the rear of the property, which guests are free to explore. There is off-road parking for two cars on the drive and bike storage is available for guests’ use.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Lovely cottage in a quiet picturesque location. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable furnishings. The outside space was wonderful for our dogs who had a ball. Ideally placed for exploring the area with plenty of walks from the doorstep. The services of the milkman was a surprising bonus as there wasn't a shop within easy walking distance. This is a lovely cottage, it has a large back garden and everything you need to cater for yourself and family for a week, decent bathroom with a full sized bath and a shower. Kitchen is lovely with electric cooker with fan oven, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer. The back garden is large but shared with the holiday cottage a couple of Read moredoors down, there is a gap in the wall and your pets could venture on to the road via the other house so make sure they understand their boundaries. For me and my friends this cottage represents everything a Christmas break should be. It's situated in a totally pollution free area and is completely quiet and regenerative for the mind and body. The cottage is comfortable and easy to relax in, not too many bare floors and stark furnishings, an open fire, comfortable sofas with plenty of cushions.Read more On our arrival lamps were lit, including a Christmas tree and the heating was on. Arts and Crafts cottage in Near Sawrey Spacious 2 bedroomed dog friendly cottage in small hamlet. Within walking distance of pub serving food and dog walk around lake. Close to car ferry across Lake Windermere.

The cottage is in a quiet lane, just down from Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's house. There is a pub in the village. Inside, it is comfortable. We bring two dogs, which is why we come here. We have stayed here four times.
