Step out on foot to enjoy easy access to both moderate and long walks, with routes leading as far as Wansfell, High Street and Haweswater. A two mile walk will bring you to Ings where there is a popular and award-winning pub and is the perfect way to refuel at the end of a long trek. Nearby Windermere and Bowness boast an array of shops, inns, restaurants and cafes, together with boat hire and steamer trips offering another view of the spectacular lake land scenery.

Inside, the property has been transformed into a contemporary and stylish space that’s perfect for romantic getaways. Prepare meals in the contemporary kitchen area before heading to the lounge to dine at the cosy table for two. With comfortable sofas, a TV and Blu Ray player, this is a welcoming space for both summer and winter retreats with high ceilings and French doors opening onto the patio. The bathroom is a luxurious space for unwinding after a long day on foot, complete with free-standing bath and large walk-in shower. Stairs lead up to a compact and pretty mezzanine bedroom with the bed delightfully set under the eaves.

This is a lovely little cottage. The location is great within convenient reach of troutbeck and Windermere. Beautifully furnished with an amazing bathroom and a great TV and sound system. A perfect retreat after a day of walking!

Such a wonderful cottage the Bothy is! The little extras such as the milk, wine and chocolates really made our stay so relaxing. Kobe and Silo really loved the dog biscuits and they are normally so fussy. We loved Grasmere and Ambleside for finding special gifts to take home with us. Super week with sunshine on our walks around the lakes and climbs up The Old Man of Coniston and Haystack at Buttermere. Nice soak in bath at the end of the day. Appreciated the warm welcome of wine and chocolates. Certainly a cosy retreat with lovely local walks and National Trust properties nearby.

Fabulous base for exploring this beautiful part of the world. Had some fantastic walks and made very good use of our National Trust and English Heritage memberships. Found some wonderful pubs and sampled some of the delicious local ales. Looking forward to coming back again soon. Many thanks.

A lovely stay, even better when it stopped raining. Great walks; Kentmere Valley, Ullswater, Chapel Stile to Dungeon Ghyll and even made it over to Loweswater. Very good walk Coniston to Tarn Hows. Our Norfolk legs are crying to go home now! Thank you. P.S. Cafe Ambio does great coffee.
