This welcoming 18th Century stone-built cottage is one of the oldest houses on the island. Its central village location means it’s well placed for exploring Holy Island.

Steeped in history and charm, this period cottage retains many of its original features, including its beautiful oak beams, while also offering modern additions that combine together for a relaxing, enjoyable stay. The house overlooks the village green, where a tree was planted by Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to the island IN 1958. Shops and the village pub are all within walking distance, also. You’ll find the village of Bamburgh nearby, as well as plenty of stunning beaches and castles on the mainland. The property is also within easy reach of the award-winning Dark Skies Park.

Enter the cottage and step into the inviting lounge, which offers a real, cosy home-from-home feel. Relax on the sofa in front of the log burning stove, perhaps while watching the TV or a DVD, or curled up with a good book. If you choose to dine at the property, you’ll find everything you need in the kitchen; an electric oven and hob, separate fridge and freezer, washing machine, and dishwasher. The dining room is spacious, with ample room for the whole family to dine together. Upstairs you’ll find the cottage’s three bedrooms; the master is spacious with a king-size bed. There’s also a bunk bedroom and a twin bedroom, which has VELUX-style windows. The bathroom has a shower over the bath and a WC, while the shower room features a walk-in shower and WC.

Heading outside, you’ll find a small patio area to the rear of the property the perfect spot for a peaceful drink, or perhaps for planning your next day out.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Have stayed in Britannia House for a number of years. Central to village and church with on street parking adjacent to the property. Next year...can you recommend single story let having 3 bedrooms and adjustable shower rather than fixed. Preferably somewhere central on Holy Island.

Great cottage in a nice, central location. Would return to this property again! Owners very friendly and allowed us to check in 5 hours early too

Centrally situated, close to all the shops and local cafes and pubs, but it still felt private and peaceful and very much our own for the week. Wildlife in abundance all just a short walk away from our door and of course the ebbing and flowing sea which was an endless source of fascination, as we watched the tides come and go across the causeway. This was our second visit to Lindisfarne and we were so pleased with this little cottage right in the centre of the village. Bamburgh village and its castle are a short drive away and Alnwick is a bit further down. Barter Books in Alnwick is a must when the weather is not so good. If your a bookworm and like a good breakfast your in heaven! To sum up, this cottage is a home from home with a spacious living area, dining room, kitchen and comfortable beds. We stayed here for a week in April. Lovely cosy cottage right in the centre of the village. Very well equipped. When the tide comes in and cuts the island off from the mainland it is very peaceful.

Always warm and cosy. I am a regular visitor to Brittania House and am always happy there. Holy Island is just such a beautiful and peaceful island. We have stayed in this house previously and where not disappointed. This is an excellent rental property with loads of space for the family or friends. The cleaners finished and we could enter the property from 10.30 ish which gave us loads of extra time. The property was really clean. We had been left lots of information with regards to heating/hoRead moret water boost. And instructions on how to use the equipment and the fire within the property. It is a typical home on Holy Island with lots of character, really cozy. There are 3 pubs with in walking distance of the house and a couple of shops. It's very central to the village and the walks around Holy Island. Can't praise this property high enough. Have already inquired about a return visit. Hide
