Spanning more than 400 square miles, Northumberland National Park is a vast open space and a stunning collection of landscapes, from the rolling Cheviot Hills to the pretty Kielder Water and Forest Park, and the historic remains of Hadrian’s Wall.
From tumbling waterfalls such as Linhope Spout to hilltop panoramas, the Park is picture-perfect and offers guests the chance to embark on many adventures including challenging hikes, climbing the area’s many crags, cycling along Hadrian’s Wall and water-skiing on Kielder Water. By night, it’s just as spectacular, being home to the darkest skies in England – perfect for a few hours staring up at the stars.
The area is also rich in history, not only hailing back to the Roman Empire but also the Border Wars between England and Scotland, which took place between the 14th and 16th centuries. Both Roman forts and impressive medieval castles are waiting to be discovered.
