Known both as Aberdovey and Aberdyfi, this peaceful coastal village is situated on the mouth of the River Dyfi and makes a lovely spot for a short break. Aberdovey looks out over Cardigan Bay and is set in a delightful part of Wales which is ideal for couples seeking a tranquil romantic retreat or for families exploring the glorious expanses of the breathtaking Eryri/Snowdonia National Park to the north. A beautiful location for enjoying a relaxing weekend break in Wales, Aberdovey has a charming harbour and is surrounded by stunning countryside for you to explore, with the Cambrian Mountains making a dramatic backdrop. The village features a sandy beach and a pretty seafront with shops, bistros, restaurants and cafes scattered along the coastline.
During your Aberdovey short break you can enjoy a range of outdoor pursuits, and it is a fantastic location for sailing, canoeing, fishing, boat trips and water sports, with summer events including yachting regattas and sailboarding competitions. The village has an excellent 18-hole golf club set within the sand dunes. There are miles of spectacular countryside in North Wales for keen walkers and nature-lovers to discover during weekend breaks in Aberdovey, with the Dyfi National Nature Reserve making a great place for spotting a variety of flora and fauna including skylarks, otters, lizards and an array of rare orchids. Heading into Eryri/Snowdonia there are numerous routes to follow, with the peak of Cader Idris (16 miles) within easy reach of our Aberdovey cottages, or you could take a trip through this magical region by steam train on the historic Talyllyn Railway.
