Whinlatter Forest Park – England’s only true mountain forest – is to the west, and the area features numerous peaks to scale including Grisedale Pike, Great Mell Fell, Little Mell Fell, Grasmoor, Dale Head and Helvellyn. There are also plenty of villages and small towns to explore nearby including Grasmere, Ambleside and Bassenthwaite.
