Holidays in Keswick

Set in the shadow of Skiddaw and nestling between Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwentwater near the north of the Lake District, enjoy a stay in this lovely market town with a short break in Keswick. Offering a range of self-catering accommodation, Keswick is perfect for a couple wanting to enjoy a quiet weekend break, or for a family looking to explore the Lake District. Keswick has a choice of excellent shops and fantastic places to eat and drink. It makes a delightful base for guests looking to explore this stunning national park, with Windermere, Ullswater and Buttermere all within 20 miles. There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities including angling, mountain biking, miniature golf and a range of water sports including ghyll scrambling.

There’s plenty to do during a short break in Keswick which is home to numerous popular attractions including a cinema, the Theatre by the Lake, Keswick Climbing Wall, The Puzzling Place and the famous Pencil Museum. You can also take a boat trip to explore Derwentwater and take in the spectacular views of Skiddaw, Catbells and the jaws of Borrowdale. Other local attractions include the Newlands Valley, Castlerigg Stone Circle, and Mirehouse and Gardens. Whinlatter Forest Park – England’s only true mountain forest – is to the west, and the area features numerous peaks to scale including Grisedale Pike, Great Mell Fell, Little Mell Fell, Grasmoor, Dale Head and Helvellyn. There are also plenty of villages and small towns to explore nearby including Grasmere, Ambleside and Bassenthwaite.
