Scarborough, with its two glorious bays and range of attractions close to the seaside, is the perfect destination for a short break. There’s plenty to fill two or three days (or longer!), from relaxing on the beach in the sunshine, to exploring the fantastic attractions which include Scarborough Castle and the Sea Life Centre. The welcoming seaside town has long been a popular resort – thought even to have been the very first seaside resort in the world!
The popular pastimes of donkey riding, shellfish meals and whiling away joyful hours in the amusement arcades remain as well-loved as ever, and for a few days, you’ll put your cares behind you and let the nostalgic seaside atmosphere re-invigorate you.
Two Victorian funicular lifts still operate to carry passengers up the steep cliffs, doubling as a thrilling attraction for families and lovers of all things vintage. Another vestige of the town’s history which you can enjoy is the North Bay Miniature Railway, along which steam trains chuff their way to the Scarborough Sea Life Centre. Stop for a pint in the Boatman’s Tavern, a converted beach hut which claims to be ‘probably the smallest pub in Yorkshire’ and continue your adventures on to Peasholm Park, which is a wonderful spot for a stroll.
However short your break, there’s always space to make time for relaxing, and what better place to put your feet up and enjoy some peace and quiet than in one of our Scarborough cottages for short breaks. Browse our varied collection today and book yourself a getaway to look forward to.
