This semi-detached stone cottage has been renovated to a high standard whilst retaining its original wooden beams giving it that cottage feel.

Surrounded by the idyllic countryside of Somerset, the cottage is situated within a peaceful, unspoilt village with a family pub, Post Office/general store and children's play area on the village green. There is a vast choice of country walks from your doorstep and cycle routes to enjoy and explore. This cottage is an ideal holiday base to explore south Somerset and Dorset's many attractions including the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, as well as the excellent beaches of Charmouth and Lyme Regis which are around a twenty-five minute drive. Just four miles away is the market town of Chard which has a wide variety of shops, interesting buildings and is well served with places to eat and drink. One mile away is Forde Abbey country house, perfect for visiting for a bite at the tea room or wondering around the extensive gardens it has to offer.

On entering the cottage, firstly there is a welcoming kitchen/diner with solid oak units, range cooker, integrated fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, dining table and TV, an excellent space to cater for your friends and family. One step up from the kitchen is the handy utility room with a washing machine and sink which joins to a separate WC. There is also a lovely and tranquil-feeling lounge with a TV/DVD, surround sound system, cosy wood burner and French doors opening out to the patio and garden. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, one Master double with a TV and en-suite shower room with WC, another double room and one twin bedroom with a TV. Upstairs windows are all at floor level so take care with children. Completing the first floor is a bathroom which has a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside there is a private patio area with seating, perfect for al fresco dining and barbeques. The patio steps lead to a spacious enclosed garden which has a large lawn area and is ideal for relaxing or for children to play. There is undesignated roadside parking for one car to the front of the property.

It is conveniently situated in a small, real-life village, close to the communiy shop. Amazing that Forde Abbey is within walking distance. It is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Two bathrooms upstairs, a loo and laundry room downstairs - perfect for 5 or 6 people. In my opinion you need a car to go there. I did see a stop but no buses,

Barrack Cottage is very comfortable with everything needed for a good holiday. The village is quiet and the people friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of places to visit only a few miles away as is the Jurassic coast.

The cottage was very warm, cosy and well equipped. Situated in a very friendly village with easy access to the town of Chard. Would definitely recommend for a quiet, relaxing holiday.
