Enjoy superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or the National Park itself from this charming detached cottage. Situated on the foot slopes of Dunkery Beacon at Exmoors highest point.

This area is popular with walkers and nature lovers with Exmoor National Park being right on your doorstep, thereby making the cottage popular with couples wanting to get away from it all, especially out of season. Set around the yard of the owner’s small farm it is perfect for those seeking peace and quiet. From the top gate of the farm, guests can walk up to the summit of Dunkery Beacon, where the views are far-reaching. The local village of Wheddon Cross is a short distance away and has a well-stocked local shop and pub. Other points of interest include the medieval town of Dunster with its famous 'Dunster by Candlelight Festival' held at the beginning of December, Valley of the Rocks, Lynton and Lynmouth and the West Somerset Steam Railway.

On entering this cottage, you will go straight into the lounge/kitchen/diner which is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet this location boasts. In the lounge area, you can enjoy curling up with your favourite book in front of the wood burner, or take time to watch the TV/DVD. The lounge and kitchen areas are divided by a breakfast bar which is perfect for breakfast and light suppers. The kitchen is well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge with ice compartment. There is also a small cloakroom which is perfect for hanging coats and storing muddy boots after a long countryside walk. Heading upstairs you will find one double room (which can be made up as a twin on request). The shower room is also on this floor and has a shower and WC. Wi-Fi is available, but due to the location it can be intermittent. Regret no children under the age of 16.

Venturing outside through the cloakroom you will find an enclosed decked area with seating, here you can enjoy the warm Somerset evenings and the open views down the valley. Proceed down nine steps to the small private garden where you can relax and enjoy a spot of outside dining. There is off-road parking for one car to the front of the property. In a separate building, you will find individual lockable store cupboards for bikes and surf boards, laundry facilities and even a hose and a sink with hot water for washing your four legged friends. With dogs in mind there is also a useful dog kennel and run located below the decking steps.

Very well presented cottage in a beautiful and quiet location with all you need. Be aware that phone signal & WiFi is poor and the ducks will be your alarm call at 6am! But we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage.

A lovely cottage which is just purfect if you want to get away from it all...... which we did. We know the area well but had no idea this little gem was there. Great base for walking & 2 pubs within a short drive but too far for our ageing Spaniel to walk both ways. The ducks kept us entertained whilst breakfasting & having an evening drink on the Read moreterrace. Look forward to going back for longer next time. Already recommended to a friend with a dog. Hide

Loved the cottage, although its small , we did not feel cramped. We were very lucky in having sunny weather and made good use of the delightful enclosed garden and decking area. The views were amazing and it was so peaceful. The location is remote and having a car is essential .

We gave the cottage 5 stars. Spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable. Lovely to have the pond, sheep, sheep dogs, cats and Mr and Mrs Duck right outside the door. The addition of the recycling and utility area is a great idea for hosing down dogs children and bikes. So quiet and relaxing. Wonderful countryside and places to visit.
