Located in the heart of Dunster at the base of the 11th century castle that the area is famed for, this cottage is the perfect countryside getaway. The village itself offers an array of amenities, including boutique shops, pubs, restaurant’s and lots of pretty tea rooms. It’s also renowned for local events like the annual Dunster by Candlelight evenings in December and various festivals and country fairs throughout the year. Just a short drive away is Minehead with its golden sandy beach, shops, pubs and restaurants, while the seaside villages of Porlock, Lynton & Lynmouth are also just a short drive away. You can also visit the West Somerset Steam Railway, Exmoor National Park, Wells and Glastonbury. Visit Dunster Country Fair on 24th July, 2019 or the Dunster Show on 16th August.

Enter through the oak door into the hallway which leads to the lounge, dining room, kitchen and study. The lounge with Smart TV/DVD and wireless music system is the most scrumptious relaxation space with an open fire for those cooler months to snuggle up and take in your favourite movie. The dining room adorned with quality furnishings is a must for that special occasion or family celebration with seating for ten with an open fire and French chandelier for added luxury. The pantry boasts a Range oven and gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer. From here step through to the traditional French styled kitchen/diner with a four oven Aga and a table for twelve, perfect for that lazy breakfast. There is a door to the cosy family snug just off from the second dining room with Smart TV/DVD and a wood burner effect gas fire. Accessed from the hall is the study, with an open fire, great for a morning read or to catch up on some emails. Also, on the ground floor is the utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer that leads into the shower room with shower and WC.

The central staircase will take you to the first floor, or a second staircase accessed from the kitchen will also provide access. The bedrooms are all uniquely styled and are adorned with soft linen to ensure that perfect night’s sleep. Bedroom one consists of a four-poster super-king-size bed with an en-suite bathroom with a roll top bath and WC. Bedroom two includes a carved French double bed and an en-suite bathroom with roll top bath and WC. Bedroom three has original antique twin zip-and-link beds (which can be made up as a super-king-size on request). Bedroom four is a king-size and has a beautiful arched chapel ceiling, this room is a former prayer room in the property’s past life as a small convent school. Also, on the first floor is the shower room with shower and WC. Bedroom five is located on the second floor, a stunning bedroom enjoying commanding views over the village with a four-poster super-king-size bed and a vaulted ceiling, authenticated to have come from the Armada ships of Elizabeth 1’s historical victory.

Heading outside the gardens are enchanting and include a walled lawn where there is a large patio with gas BBQ and garden table for twelve guests, situated under the grapevine. There is also a large hot tub off the rear of the lawn, a gate at the far end of the lawn leads directly onto Dunster Deer Park and Castle Grounds. We have just had the most incredible holiday shared with another family and the children had an absolute ball. Dunster is the most gorgeous place and the tea rooms are amazing - we tested a few - check out Tessa's. The Luttrell Arms was great too. The house is so well equipped and gives 2 families lots of privacy too. Karen and Justin have madeRead more such a lovely home and have thought of everything. The garden is spectacular! The children rode on Exmoor from the Brendon Manor Stables. Best home ever!

Beautiful home where the owners made us feel very welcome for our Christmas holiday, they had put up a wonderful decorated tree, 'set the dining room table for Christmas lunch', left Christmassy floral arrangements around the property, Christmas music playing, mince pies and champagne left for us. All very nice touches in an already well thought ouRead moret comfortable home. We loved cooking on the aga and played endless amounts of table tennis, pool and darts. Best holiday cottage ever.
