Pretty cottage ideal for enjoying a couple’s getaway, located in the village of Lower Odcombe in South Somerset, just 3.5 miles from the town of Yeovil and with easy access to the Jurassic Coast.

This property enjoys a lovely location in the small village of Lower Odcombe, with its welcoming village pub. The neighbouring village of Montacute, only a mile away, is home to the National Trust property Montacute House, a stunning Elizabethan manor house with a fascinating portrait gallery and impressive gardens. The town of Yeovil can be found just a short drive from the property, where visitors will find a good range of shops, as well as a choice of eateries. To the south of the property, around twenty miles away, is the seaside town of West Bay, with its sweeping beach made famous in the Broadchurch TV series, whilst the harbour town of Lyme Regis, famed for its Jurassic associations and fossil-rich coastline, is just a little further around the coast. Guests enter this pretty cottage through a stable door which brings them directly to the property’s kitchen, a modestly-sized yet well-equipped room with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment, and a dishwasher. This room leads onto the spacious open-plan lounge/diner, with its exposed beams and traditional inglenook fireplace, which now houses a cosy wood burner, for which logs are included. This double aspect room has a comfortable sofa from which to enjoy the TV/DVD, as well as a dining table seating two, which is perfect for enjoying romantic meals in the warming glow of the wood burner. Steep cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor of the property, where the bedroom is located: a welcoming and restful king-size room which features a beautiful example of an exposed hamstone wall. The en-suite bathroom adjacent to the bedroom has a shower-over-bath and WC. Outside, there is a well-maintained garden just across from the property, which is fully enclosed, mainly set to lawn with a shingle border, and offers garden furniture and a BBQ. There is parking available in the neighbouring pub car park, the landlords of which are the cottage’s owners.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

  • 1 king-size bedroom
  • En-suite bathroom with shower-over-bath, and WC

We searched for a dog friendly cottage I am so glad we chose Poppy Cottage. It was perfect - cosy and comfortable and with plenty of lovely places to go and walks on the doorstep. The food at the Masons was lovely and we could have happily eaten there all the time. Everyone very friendly. We had a four night stay but there is plenty to do for a couRead moreple of weeks. Slight drawback with the dog is that the enclosed garden is across the lane so we couldn't just let him out but we managed. Hide

We enjoyed our holiday in Poppy Cottage very much. It was ideal for what we needed, a cosy country cottage in a lovely village but handy to the town of Yeovil and beyond. Having the Masons Arms on the doorstep was a bonus.
