This wonderful property is a stone, grade II listed, former water mill in an idyllic location close to the beach at Kilve and set at the foot of the Quantock hills, a walker’s paradise.

This former water mill sits majestically in this peaceful and pretty village, the property has been lovingly restored and converted in a sympathetic manner to retain much of the building’s original workings. Approached along a leafy lane from the village centre, shared only with the owners' neighbouring property. It makes a perfect rural retreat for those wishing to enjoy the peace and seclusion of the surrounding countryside, yet its central location makes it an ideal base for a touring holiday in the West Country. There are many places to visit including The West Somerset Steam Railway, Clarks Village, Taunton, Dunster Castle, the seaside town of Minehead and several small quiet bays and sandy coves to explore.

The accommodation is offered over four floors and is accessed through the front garden and up a small flight of stone steps to the front door, where you are immediately greeted by the exposed workings of the mill. This characterful hallway also houses a separate WC and a utility area with washing machine. To your right is the lounge which is accessed by a small flight of stairs leading down to this spacious room with high ceiling, exposed beams and a welcoming wood burner, comfortable seating and a Smart TV. There is also a table at one end ideal for a board game. Doors lead out from the lounge to the front lawn. Heading on up the stairs back to the hallway onto the ground floor and up a further staircase to the first floor takes you to the lounge/kitchen/diner, well-equipped and furnished with electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The open-plan style of this room allows you to prepare a meal and socialise, with Smart TV, Hi Fi  with Bluetooth connectivity as well as a further wood burner making this a great place to entertain. Also, on this floor is the bunk bedroom, step up into the bedroom with its triple aspect and millstones on the floor make it an interesting room, but with restricted floor space. Continuing up to the half landing on the second floor there is access to the garden and mill pond. Up again to the third floor where the remainder of the bedrooms are situated, a twin with en-suite shower room and WC, please note this room has an ancient beam which restricts the height of the door to this room, once in the room it has a high ceiing and also contains the upper mill workings. A double, also with en-suite shower room and WC, and lastly, a spacious king-size bedroom with exposed beams and en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC.

Heading outside to the enclosed garden, from the landing area on the second floor, a wrought iron bridge and steps will lead you to the decked area with BBQ and direct access to the millpond, please take care with young children and pets as this is not fenced. Alternatively, the garden area can be accessed externally via the side of the property. There is ample off-road parking available.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The Mill is a wonderful family holiday home. The setting with the mill pond is beautiful. We had many family breakfasts and dinners overlooking the pond. Events found us playing cricket and croquet on the lawn area. Kilve beach is a treasure trove of rock pools at low tide and there are lovely walks and cycle rides to enjoy in the surrounding area.Read more An excellent place for adults and children to enjoy. Excellent location ,quiet location with excellent relaxation, lovely walks to the beach in the morning , with my dogs past the peacocks and quinea fowl , local cream teas were great fossil hunting was amazing , we spotted red deer close to the mill , great area for history, recommend Cleeve Abbey was amazing and Dunster Castle , mill and village GrRead moreeat family holiday with lots to do for all ages from teenager to the over 50 Hide

The property is a wonderfully converted old water mill providing all modern facilities in a rural setting. Ideally set at the edge of the Quantock hills near the coast it's ideal for hill walkers and beachcombers alike. Be warned that the beach is rocks and pebbles so not suitable for sunbathing on a towel. We went out of season and had a great timRead moree but note that the nearby tea rooms and the pub were shut.
